So, I've followed the instructions and installed Virtualbox 5 and SailfishOS SDK to create my very first app according to the SailfishOS.org section "Your first app".

But when I try to fire up the virtual machine "MerSDK" or the emulator "SailfishOS Emulator" I get the error message in the header.

I just don't get it. I've googled this and, for sure, people have ran into this and other problems, but I don't see any good solutions to the problem.

I've reinstalled VB5 and the SDK without any improvements. Also, I've been looking for some BIOS-setting called VT-x, which in my case is set to "Supported".

If I run Virtualbox only, I see the two virtual machines in question, but even though the IDE is not started, the virtual machines are inaccessible with the following error message:

Error in C:\SailfishOS\mersdk\MerSDK\MerSDK.vbox -- Required AttachedDevice/Image element is missing.

F:\tinderbox\win-rel\src\VBox\Main\src-server\MachineImpl.cpp[736] (long __cdecl Machine::i_registeredInit(void)). Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005) Component: MachineWrap Interface: IMachine {f30138d4-e5ea-4b3a-8858-a059de4c93fd}

To wrap it up, I'm totally lost. What am I doing wrong? Any advice or suggestion is welcome.

Thank you for your time!

The SDK does not work with VirtualBox 5 unfortunately because there are some incompatible changes in vbox. You need to install install VirtualBox from series 4.

@Jussi Pakkanen, I installed Virtualbox 4.3.30 and the virtual machines are up an running now. Thank you!

I would have to downgrade linux kernel to downgrade virtualbox. Is there any roadmap when VirtualBox 5 is supported?

This is a bug in VirtualBox, which has been reported upstream. According to the reply the fix will be in the next release of VirtualBox. That report also has a workaround for the issue that you can use in the mean time.
