[bug] Strange behavior possibly triggered by internet connection sharing
I wish I could provide a better description than this but the problem I have been experiencing is rather difficult to diagnose because it is impossible to predict when it happens. I believe I have noticed it before but I have been somewhat successful at reproducing it reliably only on 1.1.7.27 firmware.
Steps to reproduce:
- Enable mobile connection
- Enable internet connection sharing and keep toggling it on and off
- At some point both ICS and WiFi bulbs will stay lit in the Settings menu and ICS will not work
- Disable WiFi manually, switch off ICS and back on again. Only mobile connections and ICS bulbs will stay lit and ICS will work
- (wish I knew)
Now at some point the bug will be triggered. This can be observed by following things taking place:
A "Critical problem with app store registry" notification will be displayed.
SSH access cannot be enabled. First attempt to enter the Developer mode submenu will lead to a lipstick crash. When the phone recovers, position of icons on the desktop is reset to some default order. Any subsequent attempts to enable SSH will seem to go fine but SSH access nor devel-su access will actually work.
Any attempt to write to the device's internal storage will fail with "No space left on device" error. Writing to SDCard is still possible though.
Attempting to answer a previously ignored incoming phone call will cause a lipstick crash. The crash will also cause the icons to be reshuffled.
EMail application will display no accounts.
Since I cannot get root access when this happens I cannot get the full log from journalctl, dmesg however seems to contain some useful information:
Normal operation is restored after a reboot.
