Jolla "Sailfish" falling apart [answered]

For about 2 weeks now, I can not seem to change settings on my Jolla. I tried to turn on the Flight Mode, it said the processes are going to be shut down, but the mode did not get activated. When it finally did, the picture of an aircraft came on but the phone was not disconnected. Since that I have had the aircraft on the phone. Calling, using e-mail and taking pictures worked first, but the functionality is disappearing more and more - no contacts, no mail accounts, no pictures in the gallery ( the filemanager shows them ).... Everything takes ages to start - it at all.

Is there something I can try?

sounds like a weird behavior. Have you tried resetting the device?

did not want to go that "hard way" because I would lose stuff - wouldn´t I?

Your filesystem may be full (even if in Settings -> System -> About product doesn't say so).

Try with a btrfs balance: https://together.jolla.com/question/30822/root-and-home-disks-full-and-causing-various-problems/

tried it, can retry. I now finally got the Jolla visible over a USB cable and am unloading pictures and contacts to probably reset after that. Will need a minute to complete.

Great!

Do a balance regularly to avoid this type of problems. The latest SailfishOS releases do it every Tuesday morning at 3:00 AM. You need to have a charger connected for it to start, though.

btrfs .... balance eventually fixed the problem after I had moved pictures to the SD instead on phone memory. All seems OK now. No reset necessary!

Thanks for the tip g7!
