Other phones have this nice feature, it speeds up dialing when you remember the number you are calling.
Edit: Also the small '+'-icon for adding a new contact should be shown as long as the dialer doesn't find a corresponding contact.

(Bump) Almost 5 years have passed from original question and still no answer in sight. Maybe SFOS 3.0 ... ;) It shouldn't be that difficult or expensive (in terms of processing power), Samsung Galaxy Mini (yep the first one) had that feature.

Bumping the request. Any plans/obstacles (apart from shortage of developers time) to implement this feature (it's one of two major things I miss in SailfishOS, other is contacts blacklist)?

It should also use the T9 autocomplete to find names.
