If i receive a message, my screen goes on and the message popped up! That is private stuff, not meant to show around.

I cannot put my phone on the table anymore, because any can read my private messages. Have put the phone upside down on the table, but cannot see the LED anymore.

And I get a lot of messages, that even cost battery live to switch on my screen all the times. Please fix this.

I agree, this does not feel right. It does not happen with emails, but only with im.

I agree. At least we need an option for message preview.

Yes, this should be optional.

There used to be a configuration for this: https://together.jolla.com/question/93294/private-notificationson-the-lock-screen/

Yes, this also bugged me and it's pretty worrying especially when using two-factor authenticated services.

To fix this behaviour, open /usr/share/lipstick/notificationcategories/x-nemo.messaging.sms.preview.conf and remove or comment

x-nemo-display-on=true

Save, then restart lipstick with

systemctl --user restart lipstick

@j7 does this also remove the display-on popup for the XMPP ICQ and other services?

ok. i found it, the x-nemo-messagig.im.preview.conf thanks for that hint.

@i7 Do you knpw if it possible to switch off the popup at all for messegs, so if my display is on, there will also not appear? Sometimes i do show somebody pictures an i do not like to show my messages...

@g7: will this turn off all notifications or just for when the screen is off?

Mohjive ( 2015-10-04 08:18:13 +0300 )edit

@Mohjive just when the screen is off

A patch for respecting my privacy and save my battery would be enough for me. This behavior is critical for me, sowing my private stuff around. Until now I forgot it several times to place the phone up side down, very awkward!

Yes, this needs to be fixed officially. I wasn't aware of this till recently, when I was doing a banking transaction online and received the one time password (OTP) through text / SMS - the phone was locked and yet, the preview clearly showed the OTP on the lock screen. And, like others have pointed out - this is a waste of battery too.
