New messages of Conversations or Threema do not trigger a sound or the LED or show up as icons on the lockscreen. They are shown on the event screen however.

Do I still need to use the "android notifications" app?

Same here with TextSecure. No LED and no sound. It seems, this is not a general problem as Android notifications are working for other people. I uninstalled coderus app before the upgrade.

see this discussion: https://together.jolla.com/question/109180/feature-request-add-missing-apps-to-the-chat-application-list/ But on my jolla the file to be edited is: /usr/share/lipstick/androidnotificationpriorities (not properties at the end) That hack solved the problem for me after reboot. I didn't uninstall coderus app. But it should not be needed any more.

Android notifications use a whitelist for chat apps. See this answer for how to add Threema and other apps to it.
