System settings cover used to show the status of the configured shortcuts. Now shortcuts status has found a new home in the Events view (with next update) and the actual cover is just a picture with no information on it.

I propose to use the system settings cover to show useful system information too (not suitable to be placed as notifications in the Events view). For example a cyclic view of:

  • the amount of used/free disk space shown the sailfish way (with the circle)
  • used/free RAM
  • cpu/network activity
  • used/free daily/weekly/monthly network traffic according to own mobile operator

Showing the current memory in use would be very useful to determine whether one of your applications will be killed by OOM soon.

There are different apps which provide this monitoring functionality. I am currently using Lighthouse for this. Unfortunately this app often gets killed by the OOM as well.

For a button, you could have the last used setting.

Yes, but it would also expose the very thing Jolla is trying to hide with the new home screen behaviour ;)

On previous versions it showed also the transfers progress which was removed on 1.1.9.
