Since I gave up hope that all those improvement suggestions and bug reports from the community concerning the native Jolla calendar app will ever be released / fixed, I want to ask those developers out there if someone is interested in creating a new calendar app that is usefull and that one can work with. I think a lot of us will apreeciate it a lot!

I gave the Jolla-app another try this week after installing an owncloud server on a RPi and ran in all the bugs and issues mentioned months and years ago (Time-Shift of events, whole-day-events shortened one day, sync errors, not mentioned the really bad calendar layout, totally useless for someone who is using the calendar as a event / scedule planner ...). These are problems on the Jolla-side, cause my wife's Android phone just synced and worked as supposed to be.

Unfortunately I'm not a developer, but I'm really ashamed of my beloved Jolla because of this crappy calendar app.

Thanks

P.S.: I forgot to mention that I'm not using 2.0 yet, and of course that I'm willing to support the willing developers with ideas as good as I can.

I think that the layout of the UI is ok and usable but not great. But I do agree, the broken ownCloud Calendar, totally cripples the Calendar app. Reducing its useability to the same level as the calendar app of my late Sony Erricsson k300i, from a decade ago - heartbreaking.

You confuse 2 things here; the calendar application and the synchronization method.

The "calendar appliaction" is just a frontend to the calendar database (which is located in .local/share/system/privileged/Calendar/mkcal/db). It is a way to present the appointments to user in a sensible manner.

The synchronization methods to connect to whatever other calendar systems are just a way to exchange VCAL entries, it is totally separate function from the calendar presentation UI.

So which one you want to change/update?

I would because I find calendar having a lot of shortages as well. But I lack time to develop it. It has to be built from the ground up because Jolla's calendar app isn't open source.

This message is more meant as a pat on the shoulder that you're not the only one.

@drcouzelis, if that is all you want it is trivial ;)

All the calendar events are in the database, just pull off the soon-to-happen entries and show those. For little extra effort you can show them in the events view.

Perhaps someone can work on porting the Ubuntu Touch Calendar app.

It's probably not any better than the Sailfish one, but is open source at least.
