[SFOS 2.0] How to mute your phone?
I can't seem to find the quick way to mute the phone. Until Sailfish 2.0 it was possible via the clock-screen's pulley menu. Where is it hidden?

What was wrong with the Pully option on the homescreen ?!?!? If you got a call in say a meeting you could ignore it (muting the sound of the call) and then directly mute the phone via the Pully menu. Now you have to scroll down and select the silent ambiance.... WTF..... This is way more complicated, not something you want when you are for instance speaking in a meeting.
I think in next version(or in some future version) you can silence it again from lock screen pulley:
https://sailfishos.org/developmentroadmap/
In Q3 section:
[cbeta 1.1.9] Bring back the quick option to silence the device to lockscreen
Swipe down, select "silent" ambience.
And yes, that's the new way of doing this. Supposedly ambiences will be a lot more powerful in the future, controlling many aspects of the phone.
If you think of those as "profiles" then, yes, it would make more sense - if ambiences were powerful enough to control many aspects of the phone, which they currently are not. Also, you don't need to create a "silent" ambience - SFOS 2.0 bundles a set of pre-defined ones for most common situations.
t-lo ( 2015-09-25 10:24:18 +0200 )editI disagree. Muting a phone should not be coupled with ambiences, I don't want to change ambience just because I need to mute the phone e.g, for a meeting.
peter.woelflingseder ( 2015-09-25 11:10:29 +0200 )editYou can also use the volume-rocker whilst not running any musicplayer etc.
Based on the release notes you can also:
Turn off all system sounds by long press on volume down key
Yes, but in my case I prefer to use my phone "buttonless", so, it's a bad solution for me.
Generally speaking, the main problem of the new interface is that it has become less swipe, more tap. As many people already have stated here, less "unlike". And it not just changed swipes for taps, it added extra moves in many everyday use situations. Good review on that you can find in @Simo's blog.
rburkhanov ( 2015-09-25 07:22:41 +0200 )editI agree. There should still be a quick possibility to mute the phone without need to use keys. Pity that SFOS 2.0 is less unlike than before.
peter.woelflingseder ( 2015-09-25 11:06:31 +0200 )edit@rburkhanov, yeah, I agree.
But I like the new design because of its consistency. In the same post of Simo's blog you can see in SFOS 2 most actions are the same from inside an app, home, and also lockscreen.
AliN ( 2015-09-25 20:45:47 +0200 )editMuting through ambience does not work properly. If you have special ringtones selected (like from music) and switch over to silent ambience, your ringtone set up is lost when returning to your standard ambience.
@mlatu I don't quite understand your comment ... "matey" ?? ...what is this set up good for if it's not persistent ?
Manankanchu ( 2015-09-25 16:03:23 +0200 )editHm, actually i guess you ran into a bug... i thought it was still possible to set ringtones in gallery->ambiences and that settings->ringtones was not synchronized with the other one.
But the ambience settings in gallery are gone now, therefore...
Good luck with your bug, chum.

It should be possible to make a launcher for phone silence and add it to the lock screen pulley.
