Are my TOH dead?

Hi,

Yesterday I had to do a factory reset and, at restart, I had the sad surprise that my TOH are not recognize anymore. Are they all dead or is it a hardware issue on my phone?

I did a CSD hardware test, it is failed for NFC and Smart cover. For NFC: No tag found Cover state: attached NFC state: ready TOHD: nothing

For smart cover: Smart card detected = pass Smart card interrupt = fail Enable 3.3V = pass I2C device ID = fail Enable 5V charge = fail

I have 3 TOH and the 3 of them are not working.

Without the factory reset, I wouldn't mind, but now I would like to get back my 3 ambiances!! Moreover, if TOH doesn't work anymore, it means I could never buy a specific TOH like keyboard...

Does anyone has any idea how to fix this issue or at least how to be sure of its origin?

Open Terminal and get root (devel-su) and type in systemctl status tohd.service - post the print out back here.

okay, looks normal, in fact it's the same readout I get from my TOH service.

Remove the current TOH on your device, then in Terminal (devel-su) type; systemctl restart tohd.service and clip your TOH back on - (I assume you do have your Jolla account plumbed into your device?, this is paramount, as the white tag inside your TOH, instructs your phone to connect to Jolla repos and ID itself so it can download the relative wallpaper/tones).

Thank you for your answer but that didn't help unfortunately. I'll retry tonight with other TOH but I am pessimistic.

This may be a NFC problem on phone side. Check this question for more info.

Thank you for this answer, I don't know I'll try this solution, seems quite risky. Did you try it yourself? Is it easy and "safe"?

Yes I had this problem with my older Jolla and I managed to fixi blowing lightly with compressed air (spray can). I don't think it's too risky, but if you still have warranty - or you don't feek confortable doing this - I strongly recommend contacting Jolla care.

In any case, I think the result will be better if the phone is disassembled and cleaned properly.
