Option to choose if the signature is appended to the top or bottom of outgoing messages

When I hit reply on an email, my signature is added to the very bottom: below the quote of the message I'm replying to, but the textarea cursor is located at the top.

I suggest two settings instead:

Top post: textarea cursor would be at the top, signature would be above the quote but below the cursor
Bottom post: textare cursor would be below the quote, signature would be below the cursor

Top posting is bad practice and goes against recomended standards. I'd avoid a setting to promote this.

Against of what standard? I prefer top posting and it's annoying to delete signature from the bottom and add it to below my reply.

It is worth pointing out that RFC1855 is very clear that it does not specify an Internet standard of any kind. It is what is known as an 'informational' RFC. Following it is at best a courtesy, not a requirement.

Yes, it's a mere recomendation, and following a recomendation which has been followed for decades is usually best practice. While Jolla is free to insert a signature in the middle if they want to, following recomended AND common practice is usually what's advisable.

Well, I would not call this a bug :) if you ask me I would say it's wrong to top post :) But your feedback is appreciated we can add a option to add the signature to the top or to the bottom then everybody will be satisfied.

If you want the user to post the reply on the bottom, then have the textbox cursor positioned at the bottom instead of the top. So either way it's quite inconsistent.

I myself prefer to read the reply on the top, instead of having to scroll through all the replied messages. So I'd greatly appreciate if there was a setting for this.

It's normal behaviour to append at the bottom and have cursor at top, check Gmail web for example. But I understand you point, this is quite debatable actually :)

@VDVsx So are you suggesting that the signature should be on the very bottom but the reply itself on the very top? That's quite inconsistent. In any case, if you add a setting for both the position of the signature and of the cursor, everyone'll be happy.

That how it work in Gmail for me, but like I said it depends on the user, so better to offer a option.
