Add personal note option to lock screen

I'd like to have an option to write a personal text onto lock screen. It would be quite useful in cases if the device is lost, providing for example some contact information for the person who finds it. Thanks!

It shouldn't be so difficult. It reads the titleText from /usr/share/lipstick-jolla-home-qt5/lockscreen/DeviceLockView.qml line 25.

not bad idea... maybe a little bit stronger exercise: make a phone-call available, just one (without to let the number visible), where you are available in this case.

very nice, I would use it for an ice information (in case of emergency).

JFYI there is another discussion ongoing also here: https://together.jolla.com/question/146044/feature-request-how-do-i-add-a-custom-message-to-the-lock-screen/ (linking both threads together not to miss any details :) )

right now it's just a simple list

probably will add "calling/sending sms to emergency contact" feature

This type of function is called "In Case of Emergency (ICE)".

There is a similar feature-request, which is quite old but could need some attention: Lock-code option with ICE function.

Thanks, implementing something like that would be great, and also make this request to have some less importance. Just to make sure I get the other question right: So there would be a button to tap on unlock screen (somewhere next to lock code) which would call your trusted person even on locked device, and strangers wouldn't even need to see the phone number set there?

wow it is very old request=)

@simo not exactly. For me, the purpose of ICE is not hiding information, but showing it. The phone could be out of money, so i say it should show contacts number in a clear way. The main purpose is for founder to contact someone relative

ok, even better to cover also this idea then. I'll keep track on your Q, and if it'll be implemented I can close this one as too localized or something. Thanks again!

You can also use the patch Device lock faith text.

It replaces the "Locked" label with your custom text.

why not have furthermore a button for a dedicated phone-call to you. a button with "if you find this phone, please call me " and then appears the button with phone-pic + home-pic... Phone number won't be visible, and is configurable.

With this, no need to note the phone to call. but just pull the button.

That's just to keep the philosophy of private sphere.
And maybe avoid some mobbing and stalking possibility, if people found the phone number on your phone and do his violation after a while.

well, today almost everyone has a mobile phone. If you found a phone you can use your own to make a call.

@virgi26 to which one? if no number is written lol!
with this suggestion you make a button ready with a dedicated number, just one and no visible. no need to note, just pull the button. get it? ;-)

1) locked phone can call only emergency-numbers, such as 112, 911 etc. 2) your phone may be found without sim-card.

Ancelad ( 2015-11-12 16:55:04 +0200 )edit

@Ancelad, locked phone can only call emergency numbers because that is the way it is set up in the lock screen, if you create a call button there to call a specific number it will work :)

Also, what has the missing simcard got to do with it, whoever found the phone can insert their own sim and it will be possible to call the number.

Yes that would be great! My old Sonyericsson T610 had this feature, and I really got my phone back when I lost it since I had my address put in that screen!

Yes, this feature used to be quite common. My HP 95lx had that too.

That is nice. What I would recommend anyway: Put a small piece of paper with the essential information between the battery and TheOtherHalf. This will help even if your phone battery is empty. A smart cop, medic, nurse or a random stranger will maybe take a deeper look at your phone. Sadly this howl ICE-Stuff wouldn't be necessary, if all phone manufactures use swapable batteries, because removing the "back of the phone" could become a standard procedure like looking at the wallet.

@hoschi, all phones of the pre-smartphone era had replaceable batteries yet no medic would look there in an emergency. Maybe a forensic analyst, but by that time it would not help you much.

I am afraid even turning the screen in and checking the greeting message would be too much to ask. There is such a variety of ways to turn the screen on that people not familiar with that particular model would not bother unless they specifically want to (like a founder or a thief).
