jolla.jpg Hello , I have been the proud owner of my jolla from the last 9months. But now the phone has started giving me problems. The phone restarts on its own automatically in between calls or chats or browsing and goes into bootloop. As suggessted by you sailors I also did a clean factory reset and updated to the latest version but that is also not helping me. I sent a mail to zendesk and they suggested a battery removal/insertion procedure but that also didnt work. At last resort i txted them to service my Jolla but they are saying that , no service centre is available so please bear with us. This isnt an answer to my question . They have simply just denied to service my Jolla / Replace my Jolla. Just feeling left out here with my Jolla phone. Now thinking that using a local android phone would have been better than this , but now in love with the OS and so cant leave. Please help me my fellow sailors ! To find a way and get my jolla started again ! I have also attached the image of the reply from Jolla !

  1. On what Sailfish OS version is your phone?
  2. How much free storage does your phone have?
  3. Did you try cleaning the connector pins (on the battery and on the phone)?
  4. Have you tried btrfs (file system) balancing?

Sailfish version 1.1.9.28 Free space- 7gb 3- Yes i tried cleaning connector pins and it isnt working . 4- I am only charging my jolla using the charger provided by jolla only. The stock charger . I carry it everywhere. 5- And yes i have also tried the btrfs balancing and still no luck.

Demand a refund. This is ridiculous. They (Jolla) are required to either repair(in reasonable time), replace, or refund.

I have also mailed them regarding the refund/repair or replacement on my faulty Jolla but they aren't replying to any of my mails .

Yep. These are the appropriate steps (usually).

1) Wirte an answer and demand explanation / repair 2) If still negative set a date where you expect a solution (few weeks) 3) If still negative demand a complete refund.

@luchmhor Thanks , I'll write a mail again now and will give them a time frame of some weeks as you said. After that ill demand complete refund . What should be the steps if they still reply negatively ? Thanks for the suggestion .

I remember seeing a Indian jolla user on twitter (@pankjasinghwork) who got his replacement phone delivered by Jolla CEO Anttio Saarnio himself due to customs issues. With such pathetic infrastructure am surprised that they chose to operate in India. If any of the Sailors are visiting India ( for Intex launch / discussions), they could help you with replacement? A thin line of hope...

An aside - Until recently there was no support for Hindi, an offical language in India. And No service centre, no TOH accessories as well for India. I am highly doubtful of their Intex partnership succeding as well since Indians are very wary and cautious about spending and won't just throw their money when there are plenty other options around... Hope they plan this out well...

(I am an Indian jolla user and primarily bought for open-source reasons but even that is a bit disappointing...)

"no service center is available so please bear with us "

looks as if the sentence should continue: "while we... "

There are a few possible reasons:

-the service center went out of business

-the contract between Jolla (the phone and software company) and the service center has expired and they need to renew the contract with the new Jolla hardware branch.

-Jolla is looking for a better , cheaper, more centralized 3rd party service center

-Jolla the hardware company will be in charge of repairs and is now setting up its repair center (doubt it)

...

--> It means we have nobody to repair your phone, please bear with us while we fix this within this month.

In the light of "people powered" I would repair smartphones for Jolla until this situation gets resolved.

It is not like we need to solder chips on motherboard these days.

If you are not using the genuine charger, you may want to. Charging my Jolla with a cheap noname charger gave me similar problems which vanished after I reverted to the genuine charger. However, there appear to be different scenarious causing reboots e.g.. I presume you already checked your btrfs?

In my case, it turned out to be the battery. Cleaning the contacts helps only temporarily. Fixed by replacing the original battery with a cheap HTC Desire 310 one. Before the replacement: at least 3 reboots a day. After the replacement: reboot free for 4 days and counting.

Yes i did the procedure of cleaning pins again and again and still the problem persists. And yes i am also using only the charger provided by Jolla to charge my phone and no other no name charger . So this isnt a problem i guess.

...unless the charger is broken.

Have you tried putting some paper or something below the battery to push it more close to the phone contacts? That reboot problem is very common in this phone, yet still Jolla has not made any announcement about it

Add to this, it is advised to clean those contacts both battery and pogo-pins with alcohol rubbing. Sometimes force is not everything. Do not press it harder, make it clean instead.
