Often when i look at the shiny new statusbar, e.g. to check if bluetooth is connected or Wifi strong enough, it happens that a notification comes in the same wink of an eye and blocks the view to the status bar.

This is how it looks now:

I propose to move the pop up notifications relative from current position 42 pixel down and 22 pixel to the right to center and never block the statusbar like in this mockup: image description

Also, the time that it's shown should be a lot shorter (or perhaps user definable). Alternatively, it should be possible to swipe the notification away.

I prefer to have dismissable notifications. Lowering the notification will also interfere with app contents.

Dismissable, yes! But if you can dismiss i prefer to have it closer to my thumb, not aligned to top to make it extra hard to reach.

In addition to the status bar, notifications interfere with several important things, some even safety-related. For example:

  • If a notification is active, I cannot turn on/off wifi or mobile data from the events view since they are covered by the notification.

  • When navigating, e. g. with Waze, notifications will cover important driving directions such as the next turn and its distance.

  • In the launcher, the two central icons in the topmost row are covered by the notification.

My opinion is that making notifications dismissable should be made a high priority task.
