Steam support to account would be great. Chat and gallery at least.

The only way this would be possible if Valve itself would port the app. The Android app works just fine.

Not true, there A LOT of Windows Phone apps that are not made by Valve!

I have just a mad idea but if it will be possible to have a native Steam client in agreement with Valve or with their Support in order to have Steam chat and voice capabilities directly on device and of course other steam capabilities (do not matter so much) it would be very interesting to replace Skype (voice) with Steam. Though it is crazy but is not impossible.

As Steam is supporting Linux maybe they can be convinced to do a Jolla client to show they want to support every Linux.

So the android app works grand but the more interesting Steam support(whether it'd be officially supported is another thing) will come with the jolla tablet.

The tablet will use and x86 chipset so will essentially be very similar to most desktop linux distros albeit using wayland rather than Xorg or possibly Mir but that shouldn't matter as Steam along with pretty much every opengl application/game for linux uses SDL which automatically handles the display server part for you(regardless of your display server) and simply gives you an opengl context on the screen.

How the Jolla will respond to it wanting multiple windows e.g. friends dialog, I have no idea but I expect someone will have a version up on open repos once the tablet comes out. There are already examples there of people recompiling desktop apps there for the Jolla phone e.g. wireshark.

well, since sailfishOS is basically linux, whatabout steam. as in steam-steam. not as in chat and voice.. but "playin games you bought on steam"-steam. there are alot of titles available for linux on steam.

Of course im talking about the jolla tablet.

That would be really cool. Does sailfishOS support like, normal linux apps though? I know it supports android apps.

With its intel cpu I'm sure the tablet could handle something like super meat boy or nuclear throne.

sailfishOS is linux. what you mean is wether or not you could download the sources of something like http://wesnoth.org/ compile it and then run it? probably not out of the box. but i think it should not be too difficult to make an app that could act as a go between of kinds.. since sailfish is using wayland there should be a way to do this.

Yes! We need this! My dream is to launch a Steam client with a Jolla tablet and play some games. Especially Conquest of Elysium 3, which I've been playing recently... Actually, I think I'll play few more turns right now... just couple of more turns...

Or at least their in-home-streaming client for the tablet would be very nice. Then one could play also the most demanding games at home at least.

I would also love to see a native client for Jolla.

Other thing I have noticed and this may be a known issue but it limits the Steam Android app much in my opinion. Through the app on my Jolla device it seems that I am always logged in the Steam network. Closing the app makes no difference. (Maybe the Android support in the background does some strange things.) When I log into the workstation client my status in the chat is shown as 'with mobile device'. This is not a huge problem, but I do not want to be online all the time my device is on. (See comment for more information.)

PS: I would like the help out if Valve would show some API so that the community could create a native app. I think the Steam Web API is not the correct one, but guides in some direction.

For those having trouble like me before, you should always exit the steam app (android version) over the exit menu of the app itself. I think then you really are logged out.

Steam-chat could be done, for Pidgin/Finch-instant messengers, there is a plugin which utilizes Steam mobile API, it shows Steam-friends and possible games they are playing:

https://code.google.com/p/pidgin-opensteamworks/

https://together.jolla.com/question/1729/compile-and-add-libpurple-to-jolla-repositories/

Now, if Steam-chat could be yet another social network in Jolla-device's accounts instead of own application one needs to launch...
