It may be good to further socialize the jolla / Sailfish difference by introducing Sailfish-driven devices more often into appealing ( e.g. creative / sustainable / social ) real-life projects and to showcase some realistic daily situations such as businesses, on the job or on the move. Make yourselves perceivable & seen beyond your current fans :) ...

Jolla sailors incl. Marc Dillon gave jolla a first face we all know - but now the advantages of independent empowerment has to be given multiple faces to make the jolla-driven empowerment, distinction & movement more perceptible & convincingly attractive on a new level - motivating even jolla's own further moves.

The point is not about (re-)celebrating jolla, the community or the people in showcases but to bring out distinctive jolla/Sailfish arguments & qualities in action which empower and help to convince a new generation of fellow sailors ( aka customers ).

Sounds like marketing and buzzwords. I don't like that. I've you want be shown on CSI, NCIS or Walking Death, you can spend money like Apple, M$ or Dell or you are really damn good and lucky.

I prefer the later one. Especially, because Jolla is already pretty good. So I upvoted ApB.

I don't think jolla should become a market leader - that'd be counterproductive & pointless - but a distinctive leader. I'm not talking about TV-commercials but about real science & related events, sustainable development projects, creative engineering or university projects or "ordinary" people relying on advantages of Sailfish-driven features & empowerment. To built a wider, solid recognition. If you don't want to keep permanently asking yourself "will they still make it until tomorrow ?" you'll recognize that sense-making pricing of jolla- products & development fundings come at a tradeoff of a sufficiently large user-base. Even though jolla occupies a tiny niche like Lamborghini cars in the 1970's most of us probably won't be willing to pay for exclusiveness-pricings which will destroy the motivation & benefits of "sailing together" by the way. It once has been coined as "unlike", and that's still the approach. @hoschi thanks for your comment - I expected one of this kind but wanted to await "community digestion" for any further comments ... thus very constructive ! ;)

Quote: " ... My colleagues insist that Jolla/SailfishOS will not endure ... " That's the point. I constantly experience the same even though IMHO Jolla/Sailfish principally have & deserve a future. Growing & convincing beyond the "usual" community such as us here is essential.

Not sure what kind of answers you are looking for but before making sailfish more appealing to the general public many stuff have to be fixed. SFOS (leaving HW outside the equation even if it also is something that jolla should look into) isn't a reliable tool you can depend on. There are various stuff that are missing and in some cases "important" bugs. And then there are apps which is another sad(ish) story.

Can't see where Sailfish isn't reliable. For me it runs rock solid. Most Edges are polished out with 2.0. So which are the important bugs?

Not in the sense that is crashing or something. Missing stuff mostly and bugs.

Well, of course there are bugs. Like in any other system. But major ones? After the fixed caldav issues, there is no major one which comes in my mind.

Missing things? Ok, i'm still missing global copy and past. But besides that i'm just missing more native apps. That's just partly the fault of jolla. I think there would be more native apps, if the store would support paid apps.

From the top of my head we have missing localization, VPN, WPA2 enterprise. (gui easy to set up obviously). I am hitting some email bugs which i find rather nasty but yeah usecases vary and i might not be the most representative. Seen some xDAV related bugs/questions in TJC lately but no idea on the severity of those.

.... well as usual, life & business development faces & develops on very diverse fronts which have to be treated concurrently - no sense of a "perfect" OS and a lacking user-base or recognition ;)
