Serious bugs in AAC music album art support
DISCLAIMER: I post because I found several related bug/questions here and I don't know if there is one "official" thread. Don't hesitate to advice.
I encode my music library with AAC on Linux (using the Nero encoder, for the record). It works fine, but the cover support is seriously buggy.
Here is what I've tried:
- Putting a cover.jpg image is each album folder -> does not work, SFOS Media app (and a lot of other apps) relies on Tracker which does not list the covers this way,
- I've added the cover directly in AAC files using the AtomicParsley utility. This time, Tracker (and so the Media app) doesn't even see the album. FlowPlayer sees the album, but does not show the cover (which is visible on my Fedora PC)
- Finally only QuasarMX shows the cover from the file system.
I didn't try with MP3 files, I don't use MP3. Available to make some testing if needed, feel free to ask.
@romu70 - Out of pure curiosity, what made you decide to encode your music to AAC?
Spam Hunter ( 2015-11-16 14:59:25 +0200 )I started some years ago when I had a iDevice. And recently, I decided to re-encode my entire library which was partly encoded with Ogg. But Ogg, is not well supported outside the Linux world. So, after some searches, I chose AAC because it seems to have the best quality/size ratio.
