I really like this, as bonus it brings such a nice "Flashlight-Button", along with Reboot and Power-Saving :-) So this app is highly recommended for everybody I think!

Hope you don't mind if I start a wish-list here:

Generally, I'd replace "tap" with "press" in the Configuration Menu. I'm no native english speaker, but I thought "tap" means "touch".

  • The action-list (offering "Lock display", "Lock device"), needs "Toggle Flashlight" :-) (That's what could be pre-defined for current "Longtap action display off"
  • Powermenu2's "Lock" should be renamed to "Suspend", while a real "Lock (device)" was nice to have!
  • Speed up Shorttap reaction. I set "Shorttap while on" to Powermenu2, and it seems there's a coded (700ms?) delay?

Will configure some personal prference tomorrow and post if I have more ideas.

Thanks a lot

-Mano (who already used your reboot app on a VivazPro some years ago ;-)

Actions list contains only actions provided by operating system, extra actions can be added there only via "Application 1-3" Lock will be renamed to Screenlock Some extra tweaking menu for power key delays is planned too

As a workaround for the flashlight thing, you can install app Lux from Openrepos/Warehouse, set that as Application 1, and then choose Application 1 for ”longtap action display off”. Works like a charm.

Really nice, thank you @coderus!

I like the built-in Sailfish events view pulldown menu with the brightness and ringtone sliders and with the shortcuts to the configurable settings pages like "patchmanager", "OS updates", etc. I miss these so much from Powermenu 2. (OK, the brightness can be changed by pressing multiple times the appropriate icon but a slider would be much nicer IMO.)

Are you planning to implement these? Please, please! :)

Settings shortcuts most likely no, but you can grab some skills in creating custom desktop files with actions, and assign it yourself. I can write some example, if needed.

For brightness slider needs some additional investigation.

Hi @coderus, I would appreciate some help on desktop files for submenus of the Settings menu like opening "Mobile network settings" or opening "Patchmanager". I cannot find a command for these, I'm stuck. Thanks!

Sorry, what shall I write to the "exec=..." line of a desktop file? I would like to add a patchmanager shortcut to Powermenu2, how shall I do this?

cuh7b5 ( 2017-03-30 12:32:39 +0300 )edit

You need: dbus-send --type=method_call --dest=com.jolla.settings /com/jolla/settings/ui com.jolla.settings.ui.showPage string:system_settings/look_and_feel/patchmanager

Looks great, and I think I like it ;-) But couldn't find out so far :-(

Is it supposed to work on 2.0.0.10? I installed it, but neither behaviuor of the power-button (the physical knob) changed, nor any display-tap behaviour leads to any of the configuerd actions. I think I don't understand how to use this app... Is the virtual/icon-power-button meant?

Thanks,

-Mano

You need to read application description and open powermenu2 configurator by icon in menu, and setup one of the powerkey actions to open powermenu2

coderus ( 2015-11-26 18:32:59 +0300 )edit

Thanks for your answer. I found "Powermenu2" on the Launcher (if that's the pullin-from-bottom pane).

I started the app, added shortcuts, and found some display-tap settings under "Configuration". Unfortunately nothing happens. Where do I "setup one of the powerkey actions to open powermenu2"?

Thanks,

-Mano

Yup, that's what I can see. But it doesn't matter what I set for "Application 1" or anything else, it has noeffect :-( Seems it just dowsn't work for me. I reverted changes I made with the official Gestures-Settings. But hasn't helped. No tapping changed, and the physical power button simply does the same it has always done (showing shtudown icon and ambience-selections) Seems at least I'm not too stupid to use this app ;-)

Thanks,

-Mano

You should change for example "Longtap action display on" value from "Sailfish Powermenu" to "Powermenu2"
