edit: this issue is tracked by Jolla here in a newer question: https://together.jolla.com/question/170786/sailfish-x-sound-not-in-sync-ahead-of-video/

Affects Jolla Phone, Jolla C, Intex Aqua Fish, Sony Xperia X – and also Nokia N900 already (with or without extracodecs, can't remember).

Severe. About half a second misalignment.

How to reproduce: For example, take a pencil and start filming as you tap your desk with the pencil repetitively, with slow and fast variable patterns. Watch the recording and you can see that sound and video does not come together. If needed, verify by using VLC Player's slow motion and synchronisation adjustmentment features. It happens both when phone memory as well as memory card works as a storage. Does not matter: Infinity focus or Continuous AF.

Jolla is already tracking camera related issues as @MSameer from Jolla commented on Dec 4 '16 here.

I have noticed similar kind of audio out of sync problem also in Nokia N900 (a Maemo device), but cannot say was it with original codecs by Nokia or after installing extra-decoders-support.

Let's try other devices also (Jolla C, Jolla Tablet, community ports, ...).

Also might be good to keep an eye on device's driver firmware (in Settings > Device info > Device adaption).

Can confirm that this is still an issue on Xperia / Sailfish X

The quality will get better with time and updates. You may be interested in this thread: https://together.jolla.com/question/4985/feedback-on-camera-tuning/

Allmost funny, that Pictures taken from an Android App are almost clearer. It seems to be a AF problem that turns up cpu usage and this slow down also AF

Just try an android app and compare the quality

Even previewed pictures are better than the actually shot ones.

Perhaps the audio out of sync problem could be fixed by acquiring HW accelerated audio codecs instead of SW that is the current method, as @MSameer here informs.
