Hi everyone,
Thanks for your comments and recognizing the importance of community services/communications. Unfortunately at this time, with the uncertainty of Jolla's investments going forward and in the midst of lay-offs and debt restructuring, some functions have to go. I regret that community is one of the affected areas. In addition to myself, the other main community liaisons @iekku and @eric have also left the boat. We are however still very much a part of the Jolla/Sailfish OS community, just like all of you.
To answer the question of who will be handling community communications from now on, it should be Jolla's Head of Communications, Juhani Lassila, mainly through the Jolla Blog (and probably Twitter/Facebook too). His focus is more on journalists/partners/investors, and it will be quite an additional burden for him to cover all my previous responsibilities (community/users/bloggers/fans). As some of you have noticed, I'm still very much in touch with the community through my personal social channels + TJC + IRC, though now as one of you rather than the interface between Jolla and community. It's sad to see questions go answered and other Jolla channels neglected (except for blog/TW/FB), but I can't do anything about them at this point.
I hope that as the situation improves at Jolla, resources can be reinstated to community-related services. It will be my honour to serve you again, if presented with the opportunity. In the meantime, another good way of participating in discussions with Jolla and the Sailfish OS community is through the regular community collaboration meeting on IRC. For example, in the last meeting, @veskuh shared the current status of the company, including the important info that new Sailfish OS releases are being worked on and Harbour QA is also ongoing (albeit rather slowly). If you are unable to attend these meetings, you can check the minutes here afterwards. (I'll continue chairing the meetings when needed although any Jolla sailor/community member is welcome to take that seat. I'll update TJC + minutes wiki after the meetings as well.)
I'm not sure what else to add here. It's been extremely tough few weeks (hmm, make that months), and I've been telling myself to take a break and go offline for a while to clear my head. Guess I'm too attached and that's not a good thing. Nonetheless, my gratitude to all of you sticking by Jolla and rooting for Sailfish OS. You are what made my job meaningful, and I'll always treasure that.
Carol.
Times are a'changing.
