i have received yesterday my jolla and i.m quite fond of it..

i am puzzled by two things: the poor battery life and the supported UMTS 4g bands

in France we have like in some other countries a network using the 1800 mhz band which is called bouygues telecom and signs bouygtel on the phones. they are using their refarmed 2G/3G 1800 network to offer 4g service. So the supported UMTS band width has to be at least 900/1800/2100. the phone sent out to me states on the label as regards compatibility with the UMTS bands: 900/2100. this is likely to be a problem as i own a 4G enabled subscription on that 1800 mhz network.. So i hope that by flashing the phones baseband/ firmware this 1800 Mhz will be unlocked and available to me. this is why nokia and apple sell in France phones compatible with the 800/900/1800/2100/2600 mhz bands for UMTS as 800 and 2600 might be added up to the other bands in France. does someone know if the phone will have at least the needed 900/1800/2100 UMTS 4G compatibility?

After Jolla enables 4G LTE support with a Sailfish update, it should be supported by

France (Bouygues, Free Mobile, Orange, SFR) source

Jolla's hardware supports UMTS frequencies 900/2100 MHz and LTE frequencies 800/1800/2600 MHz (bands 20, 3 and 7). So the hardware is compatible with every frequency used in France.

However LTE is not yet enabled. It will be enabled via software update when the feature is ready for public release. See also here.

Currently with Jolla, HSPA+ Dual Carrier connections with up to 42 Mbps downlink can be used (where available).

The poor battery life may be because power is being drawn by the other half at all times. Have a look at the following page on the JollaUsers forum:
