Notice: Advised by @chemist to create a specific thread, here it is. I know the Nexus 5 is not officially supported, but I don't think this has something related to a specific hardware. And I'll check with my Jolla too.

Bug: No more voicemail notification (the small icon on the lockscreen).

EDIT-r0kk3rz: I can confirm this is also happening to me on the Jolla phone, and so not specifically a porting issue on the Nexus 5

Please remove porting tag as soon it is known to not be a porting specific issue.

I didn't add the tag. Don't know who did it. But I remove it.

@romu70 I added the tags, and thank you for pulling the reports to their own question! For the future, please tag porting and release number, no need to put it in the title but [bug] might come handy though ;)

Wait, are you saying that I am supposed to get voicemail notifications on the lock screen?

Because I have never had any! Ever!

I've found the issue, see https://bugs.merproject.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1523 and have submitted a merge request, see https://git.merproject.org/mer-core/commhistory-daemon/merge_requests/13

Hopefully, sailors will have time to backport the fix before 2.0.1 is out !

That's what is nice with opensource: if there is a bug, there is a way to find it. Ok, I spent a lot of time figuring out what happened, but finally I'm very happy with this and hopefully the voicemail notification will come back soon.

Thanks Damien. ;-)

Currently (2.0.1.11) the only workaround to find out is polling the voicemail service. Does anyone know if this has been fixed for the (looming) v2.0.2.45?

I think that the new message count was not displayed even when it was working. Does your fix display the count of "new messages" ?

rtr2001 ( 2016-06-20 23:40:49 +0300 )edit

@rtr2001 sorry, for the count of new messages, I didn't do anything for it. The fix for the voicemail notification just consisted in calling the init routine again in the notification daemon because changes in the modem signaling for multi-sim brake it. So, nothing from my side on that matter.

Besides, the fix should be in 2.0.2.x. I cannot say so for sure, because I run a modified version of the daemon on my phone, but I think I've seen the commit in the changelog (to be published).
