Can I install Google Play without going into developers' mode (and thus risk loosing my warranty)?

You need developer mode enabled to get root access on your Jolla. So the answer to your question is no. By enabling dev mode you won't void any warranty - but you enable tools with which you (the user) can break the phone's software and thus void the warranty. So in other words, the warning says: "Better know what you are doing from here on and with the tools we give you, cause we can't cover you if you make mistakes".

As you need root access, I would be very careful doing this! It's always important to understand the different steps of such tutorials, know the risks and how you can fix mistakes - or worst case reset the phone via recovery tools. It is no magic at all, but you can end up with a bad working or bricked device - that's what Jolla's warranty warning is all about.

Developer mode does not remove your warranty on Jolla.

rm -rfas root is a good idea. If you know what you're doing, the risk of breaking anything is very slim.Enabling dev mode doesn't instantly remove your warranty, but Jolla won't fix your phone if you brick it.
