I've been using Jolla Phone allmost two years, from april 2014. All this time I've been waiting for possibility to backup phone calendar. But update after update has been dissapointing, no backup for calendar. I'm not using any cloud calendars, just the one in my phone. As it seems that Jolla is unable to make this happen, an app to do the job would be nice. Or could somebody give instructions how to backup my phone calendar, please. Pretty please. Instructions for dummies...

All I want is to backup my Jolla calendar to a file that can be copied to SD card.

Br, Mika

As an important enhancement of SFOS Calendar backup should be added to Settings/Backup.

That's more of a feature request then an app request. By app I would find a third party inclusion.

See https://git.merproject.org/mer-core/nemo-qml-plugin-calendar/commit/2003d22e3233d8d8fef262ca9a2897fb9977ceb7 for what you want. It will be released in 2.0.2.x and is integrated into the backup/restore flow from that version onward.

@chris.adams: Hello; Is there a release plan (date) as well for this version? Thank you,

@megalith releases are atm a bit uncertain, jolla is still recovering from Nov fallout. So the usual 1 month does not apply, and 2.0.1 is not released yet. So usual expectation would be 4-6 weeks after that depending on how many critical bugs are found. But I'd guess we will see 2.0.3 instead in about 1-2 months and 2.0.2 gets skipped as it would have been released already if Nov fallout had not happened.

Sorry, no app, but this is the command needed to backup the calendar:

sudo cp -p /home/nemo/.local/share/system/privileged/Calendar/mkcal/db /home/nemo/calendar_backup

For more information about calendar and sudo see: search in calendar

Note: sudo is not part of the standard installation. In this case you should use devel-su instead (first devel-su, then cp -p ...).

Thanks, but where I'm supposed to write this...

And on the other hand, if it is so simple, just one line of text, why hasn't Jolla been able to make this happen?!?!

MikaN ( 2016-02-13 12:42:50 +0200 )edit

That you have to ask Jolla. We are only trying to help. For unix commands like the ones proposed you have to use fingerterm (terminal), which is installed when you activate developer mode in settings.

thanks @lakutalo, I'll try to follow instructions :)

More like a recommendation, sir; if you prefer, you might also like to use ssh from your PC. ;)

SyncEvolution (available in Warehouse) has a file backend. See https://syncevolution.org/documentation/backends

I haven't tested the file backend personally, and SyncEvolution is moderately complex to configure, but syncing to the cloud works beautifully once setup..

Edit: the file backend seems to really be an 'active' backend, so you can sync back changes after modifying the files. So basically you can assume a full restore is also possible.

@accumulator: Do you have a working SyncEvolution solution? Please could you help by providing a step by step description and or maybe your SyncEvolution config files? That would be great and might help me further with the following topic. --> https://together.jolla.com/question/129546/owncloud-from-v82x-and-sailfish-os-from-v2017-syncronisation-of-calendar-addressbook-tasks-and-notes/ Thank you.
