So, the other day, my phone got exposed to water while we were at the beach. Noo! Worse, once it happened, my very "helpful" friend (whose great ideas caused the water exposure in the first place) took my phone and wanted to check if it was still working, and kept trying to turn it on. Double-Noo! Of course, eventually, all signs of life were gone. (I'll forever consider him an idiot after this.) And Jolla is out of phones, I can't order a new one! Triple-Noo!

Of course, without a phone, I won't ever be able to get back to developing Jolla apps. And also, on that phone there was some data I'd probably have liked to still have available (probably nothing too critical, but would be nice to have).

What now? Could there be any pros out there who might be able to repair my phone or something?

"At the beach" means sea water, right? Be prepared to not only having lost your phone, but also your data.

What you can do: try to get the electronics to work, at least. Mechanical parts like buttons, connectors, microphone etc will most likely be damaged by water (especially by salt). If you are lucky you could get the phone connected to a computer and rescue your data. May be the electronics still work until the salt gradually damages also these parts.

Some time ago my Nokia N8 fell into fresh water. I managed to pull it out within a second, so the only damage was the lock slider that was easily available as a spare part.

I should mention that I'm not a too practical person, and may be more willing to pay pros to do something, than to myself try something I don't know anything about.

Yup, sea water, unfortunately. It's pretty dead, connecting a computer doesn't do anything. In any case, right now, having a Jolla at all is somewhat more important than the data that was on the destroyed one.

You would be wasting your time. If it's been in sea water, wave goodbye to it.

@ovekaaven - as pointed out below, there is a seller on eBay Italy with a Jolla for sale, surely it couldn't hurt to contact and ask about postage to Norway. Jolla on eBay and this one (likely the same seller) Amazon.it

I fell over board with my Jolla in my pocket last summer, brackish water (some salt). That means it was soaked for a good 20 seconds and I had to drive off to find rice to start drying it. After this I opened it, cleaned everything with alcohol thoroughly and it booted once, but then not again. And I haven't had time to try to rescue it since.

Finding someone that can clean it out properly might help, but with it beeing booted several times with salt inside doesn't inspire confidence.

As for a new phone, if you can do without alien dalvik maybe the fairphone 2 should be on your shortlist? The community port is doing well I hear. If you really want a Jolla there are second hand markets, I see one appearing maybe once or twice a month in Sweden.

If you can't get a Jolla phone maybe you can conside one of the SFOS ports on the Mer wiki like the one for Oneplus X.

Jolla is still available from three vendors on amazon.it. I don't know if they ship to Norway though.
