I just learned about this device, but I wonder, how does sailfish OS's privacy compare to the privacy of this phone?

Silent OS is another Android derivative. Something similar to the OS that the prototypes of TuringPhone had.
As of security... I didn't understand how the normal (2/3/4G) phone calls will be secured. What they are promising are secure VoIP calls between Blackphones themselves and other Android/iOS devices that have compatible apps installed.
It is possible to install apps from third party stores (e.g. Google Play), but as the apps in those stores aren't checked for behaving nicely (at least not as thoroughly as for Silent OS Store), they could do anything they want. Silent OS has a feature called Spaces, which is supposed to allow separate all apps into kind of virtual machines. This is very similar to the Qubes OS for PC-s. Anyway, whether the Spaces feature works or not, is to be find out.
Silent OS offers also several enterprise level features, but, as a private user, I see no use for them now.
