hi there!

Missed Jolla C program I guess by only a few hours.

Should we start a campaign to add more members to Jolla C program?

Are there many of us who are interested but were left out?

Almost 10000 members here, so 1000 phones is roughly 10% of the together.jolla.com users.

EDIT: 1500 devices sold altogether: first batch 1000 and 2nd 500 units.

EDIT 2: As noted below I got my device from the second batch but there seems to be a lot of interest for a 3rd round....

EDIT 3: Been using this few days now. And what a neat phone! JOLLA start making devices again! Or put more Jolla-Cs out!!

EDIT 4: Interesting how many down-votes this gets...

Same here, missed it with couple of hours. If I have the change to buy another Jolla phone, I would. Even that my current Jolla phone is working, well at the moment its in service. But I have no intrest in any sailfish phone with 3rd party apps like Aqua fish, so its vanilla sailfish for me or when my current phone breaks for good its back to android.

Me too, I have relatives interested in Sailfish OS and this would be a great opportunity to start since jolla phone is not available anymore :(

I'm gutted! As a backer from the first hour (for the phone as well as the tablet) I would have appreciated an e-mail to alert me. So upset right now! :(

In todays press release Sami Pienimäki says: "We are now investigating if we can extend the program beyond this.”( Source: https://cdn.jolla.com/wp-content/uploads/bsk-pdf-manager/SFOS_Community_Program_press_release_May27_2016_FINAL_72.pdf )

At jolla.com they say "The Program is currently sold out. Leave your email to hear first about future availability."

So I guess Jolla's already working on this. I think they'll find a way to make more devices available and the best you can do is to leave your Email at jolla.com.

First I thought its a marking-gag...then I realized it ;-) I did not have internet access during working hours. Just in late evening I notied that Jolla-C is actually a real product with quite decent specs. Thinking about upgrading my 2.5 years old 'The First One' Jolla with the fear of dropping it and having no chance to replace the broken glass, I would definetly be ordering Jolla's C-phone!!! I hope they hear us who missed that chance... . Can't wait anymore...for a new SailfishOS device with Andriod support!!!

I guess that the Jolla C, seems to be a rebranded Intex AquaFish , will be back as unlimited Edition after the 1000 devices are send out.

I think the unlimited Jolla C will not have a orange backcover, so the Jolla C Limited (orange) will stay indeed limited.

unlikely, Jolla isn't in the hardware business anymore and they likely don't want to have to deal with warehousing, orders, post-sale support, warranty claims .etc

So unless they get a partner who wants to take care of all of that (like snapdeal in India), I'm not seeing a future unlimited release of the Intex phone in Europe.

That sounds like a good opportunity for a third party to step in an import the Intex Aquafish to Europe. We as a community could maybe make companies aware, that already are in this business? I myself do not know of any at the moment, but as this a community, I am not alone.

You mention unlimited; where is this coming from? I dont recall having heard of this model so far (as in unlimited Jolla C)

@tortoisedoc i said "I think" because it´s logical to sell other branches of the Intex AquaFish as rebranded Jolla C. It´s unlogic to announce a new project and close it after 7 h because there is no more device left.

Actually, they opened the shop 5 minutes earlier, and it was Finland time which is 1 hour ahead CET. (I got one)

Let's see when a Russian company Oysters LLC will deliver Oysters SF: Octa-core MT6753 by MediaTek, 2 Gb RAM, 13MP + 5MP camera, 2 SIM, 3000mAh battery, 1080p IPS and an FM tuner :-). Already in Wikipedia.

This one looks good, just one correction as per their page: The screen resolution: 1920x1080 IPS

The smart phone is low on memory even compared to original Jolla..

Now jolla.com says: "The Sailfish community device program is fully booked. Thanks for joining"

So I assume there are no more jolla c phones to be sold.

2nd batch was sold out after 20 minutes! That's totally crazy!

I honestly hope that they planned a 3rd round also with more devices available.

Marti Masa K ( 2016-06-14 14:21:47 +0300 )edit

that is quite a good sign for any attempt of Sailfish hardware marketing, isn't it?

danfin ( 2016-06-14 15:06:07 +0300 )edit

@danfin well, no. We're talking about 1000 devices + few hundreds today. That's good but still very far to be success. they have to sell hundreds of thousands phones to get good wind in the sails ;)

BTW, I'm glad it sold out quickly, I missed both opportunities and looking forward to a new jolla C round.

i missed the opportunity too. Jolla must know when I travel and have no access to internet:-) Anyway I hope for new opportunities... at some point it must be possible to just buy a phone with sailfish, right?

Would love to see more phones. I'm trying to get one of these to start developing as community ports to android phones just aren't as reliable or to the same level of polish to the official phones, not to mention android support. Would love to purchase one of these phones to give back to the OS and develop, which is what drives these phones into more users hands.
