Let's support the Sailfish marketing team by collecting all particularity of Jolla and Sailfish OS that impressed users of other smartphone brands and technologies.

Please don't focus on the advantages, but on the reaction of other users. As example, "No Google Account" didn't impress any of my interlocutors, but I made an iPhone user cry when I showed him an 96% battery at 12:00 lunch time, while his was searching for an 220v outlet for his charger. EDIT: I have to add to the battery time (if you are lucky). I'm lucky myself and have a great battery time. Thank you very much for pointing difference in experience. This avoids false sales arguments!

Also, please don't invent, but just report real reactions.

96% at lunchtime? After taking it off the charger when? 11:35?

No, this is not a troll. I am always amazed at people claiming a long battery life and always ask, how on earth do they do it? I take my Jolla off the charger with a 100% battery, jump in the car and drive to work. By the time I get there in just under an hour, the battery indicator says 89%. Four days out of a single charge is completely unrealistic. If I am lucky and do not use the phone at all, I can just about manage two.

What impresses my colleagues: a double tap on the screen to wake it up. Simple and definitely not unique but surprisingly few phones have that feature.

Here you are ->(my battery time)<-. I have Bluetooth, 4G and WiFi on and usualy 9 to 12 apps open. And my phone is two and a half years old.

Please search this forum for "battery" entries. Myself, I had problems with the battery contact resulting in a one day battery live. (just clean the contacts and put a folded piece of paper to push the battery). Also upgrade to the newest version and check with ps -ef if a process is using to much CPU.

@tomtom, your screenshot shows 2 days of battery life. Exactly what I get if I leave the phone on standby all the time, but it goes down like a ton of bricks the moment I start using it for anything.

I know there are a lot of discussions about the battery life and I did not intend to start another one. The only reason I mentioned it was your "do not invent" clause. Using the battery life as Jolla's selling point would be rather dubious if even the members of the community cannot agree on it. The best would be not mentioning it at all.

@pichlo Your driving to work is the "problem": My Jolla has incredible battery life if you stay within your cell tower range (maybe not 4 days, but 3 with little usage), but as soon as you hop onto a train or drive a car you can almost watch it get drained. The handover to a new cell tower seems to eat huge amounts of electricity. My Android phone handles this a lot better. Not sure what's the reason here, hardware or software... PS: I have Wifi and bluetooth turned off most of the time, this also helps, uhem

@Bimberle: This I have also seen. When I'm much traveling through a day and barely touch the phone, it is still empty at the end of the day but If I'm just sitting at home and don't touch it I sometimes have 45% left in the evening. I guess here lies some potential for improvement in the Firmware.

Checking my mail while playing an 80s classic from youtube to my colleagues. One of them leans over my shoulder.

"How do you do that?"

None of the other phones at the table could multitask as well as my Jolla One.

Gesture based

At least 1 person per quarter is amazed how fast I control my Jolla with gestures.

"Mind blown"

When I heard there still are phones made which doesn't turn itself on when the alarm goes off in the morning if you shut it down for the night. I had always thought this was on every phone since the 90s, but I was wrong and now I'm so happy Jolla Phone has this feature (nice way to save battery when you are somewhere for longer periods without possibility to recharge).

As I sit here waiting for my next phone (the Jolla C) a thought hits me...

My Jolla One will also get Aurajoki even though it is more than two years old. :-O

The version history sure is nice, wouldn't you say?

Battery life

I'm impressing around one smartphone user per week showing the 4 days battery charge chart of the System monitor app. At least 5 people asked where to buy a Jolla based on this.

My daughter's reaction to hearing that I bought a Jolla Community limited edition phone:

"I'm so having your Jolla One!"

(She uses a Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini now)

Now that is cool!

As I showed gesture orientation lock in action :)

Imagine dropping on a sofa or bed after hard day's work with phone in hand, only to see your chat app going all landscape :( Not if you have a Sailfish OS device and your finger on screen while you fall ;)

A young boy and his quite attractive mother was standing before me in a queue. The five year old saw me answer a call with a touch on my bluetooth headset. He watched with the intensity that only is found in children of that age as I examined the image of my fiancee trying out a dress. She looked lovely in it and I told her so. The phone was back in the leg pocket in seconds, after closing down messaging and locking the phone with one hand. I continued the conversation but the little guy was now staring at me.

Then he turned to his mother:

"Wow, ma. He's quicker than a gunslinger with his phone!"

His mother turned around and.. Yes, I blushed.

Didn't think children watched westerns nowadays. :-O
