Bug: Too loud alarm clock sound

Although alarm clock sound should be high enough to be heard, I think this time it is way too loud, so that even the phones speaker starts to resonate/distort when the sound gets more louder. There should be a way to change the max volume of alarm clock too, but making changes to max ringtone volume or ambience ringtone volume seem to have no effect on alarm clock loudness. In the long run this could even destroy your speaker, so I consider this very urgend and it needs a fix soon.

It could be also handy if the sound could be adjusted via the alarm clock app itself to address the appropriate sound level for alarm clock. For example a slider for adjusting alarm volume could work.

I have noticed that this same problem with too high sound level is also possible to carry out using native mediaplayer with certain self added songs (flac) and putting volume to maximum. After dropping volume level two steps down (pressing volume down) from max volume level, the distortion stops when using integrated phone speaker. However using max volume or one step down from max causes minor resonating/distortion. This could be also a minor speaker defect. Can someone confirm this?

I have also recognised the speaker starting to resonate/distort. One solution is to reduce the volume at all or have a special software filter (dsp/equalizer) to reduce only the problematic frequency.

Adjustable volume for alarm clock would work, but I haven't been able to change the alarm clock max volume at least yet. Propably this is not solved yet in upcoming update, but hopefully in the next one.

@jiit i am having the issue not with the clock but with my calendar, when i am streaming or connected to bluetooth in Sailfish 2.0.4.14 and a calendar alert pops up on the screen its at max volume and scares me every time since i have large speakers.

I answered to another question, but with a solution which suits well as an answer to this one too. This is an exact copy:

This feature could be found under Settings -> Apps -> Clock:

Option "Alarm"
- Ring tone (get from ambience (default) / user override -> opens a list
- Lenght of ringing (1min / 3min / 10min / until shut down (default) )
- Volume setting (get from ambience (default) / forced to full / increasing
- Snooze options (after 5min (default) / after 10min / disabled
I'm a big fan of customizing, and my answer includes some more features than asked here. Please comment, I'm glad to edit.

Some kind of slider for adjusting the sound level would be nice to have but in my opinion the max volume for the alarm clock should be even littbe bit louder than it is now.

The resonating on speaker seems to be a bit dependant on tone played. When using LE TOH, the original alarm sound seems to make speaker resonate (which is MP3 file), but using some other of my own music tracks (FLAC), the problem is really small or barely noticeable.

Put the tracks you like in the Music folder found in Jolla phone memory. For transferring flac or mp3 I use USB connection via PC, but Bluetooth works also. Notice also this issue regarding a bug when setting own email tones via ambience settings: https://together.jolla.com/question/11094/bug-unable-to-replace-original-email-tones/

I would like to have some sort of fading for the alarms, where the volume goes from 0 up to full volume. I used to use Sleep as Android on my Android phone and it was really nice to have an alarm that faded in, it makes it so much nicer to wake up in the morning. :)

agree...would be nice that like my previous nokia n9 regardless of the volume setting you choose for your alarm the sound slowly fades in over 15 seconds or so before it reaches full volume. :-)

"Clock settings" in Warehouse adds alarm volume adjustment feature. Maybe this contribution could be merged with the SailfishOS-main-branch?
