I have installed the modified Pokémon Go v0.29.2 from iHackedit, which is compatible with Android 4.0+ and thus only way to get it running on my jolla.
Unfortunately GPS does not work within the app (tells me that it can not get a gps signal). GPS is working fine though, as i can see when opening the map.
Any ideas how to get GPS working in Pokémon Go?

Out of curiosity I installed Pokemon Go on my Nexus 4 running CyanogenMod (Android 6.0.1). Same issue - can't connect to GPS service even though GPS is working fine. Therefore I assume you need Google Play Services if you want to catch Pokemons. For me that's a good reason to stay away from it ;-)
EDIT: Other comments here confirm: You can run it on Jolla, but need Google Play installed for GPS (and possibly other features).

After some playing around, I got it working. In the end I installed the Google Play Store (there's a guide somewhere on jolla together). Then I installed the Google Maps App. When I started it, it complained, that it needs some Google Services to function properly. I installed them. That fixed the GPS issue. Probably it's enough to just install those services without maps. Note that currently, especially because it's weekend, the servers are completly overloaded and you can't even sign in, where I live. Thanks for sharing, but this doesn't seem to work for me. I even did a factory reset, re-installed all updates, then google play services and store and then google maps and the Pokemon Go Mod. Google Maps works fine but Pokemon doesn't detect a GPS signal. Any suggestions?
EDIT: Finally it works :) I used Google Maps for some time, then it asked me to UPDATE play services. I said yes and now all I have to do is catch 'em all. Have fun trainers!

Disclaimer: I have not tried the app myself. However, a few Android apps I have used seem to be missing some code that makes the Android layer start the Sailfish GPS service.
A workaround for those apps was to open another Android app that used GPS (such as Ingress or Google Maps) first, and then launch the buggy app. Perhaps this will work with Pokémon Go as well?
Not the asker, but I have the same issue. This is a bit different unfortunately. GPS does seem to start, but the app isn't detecting it.
I tried starting up Nokia HERE and then Pokemon Go. No luck. Could be a problem related to it being a modded version of the app.
Nition ( 2016-07-15 05:30:21 +0300 )editYep, I can update on my situation as well to say that Google Play Services got it working. Note that it's not just Google Play you need, it's Google Play Services, which is actually an app on Google Play itself.
The Google login also doesn't seem to work, but the Pokemon login works fine.

Maybe it requires Google Play Services to use the GPS.
