Hi,

I recently bought the Intex Aquafish, OS version 2.0.2.45 (Aurajoki)). It came with "Here Maps" or something like that for navigation. I removed it since it was not able to select "My location" as the starting point when I start navigation (or should I given it another try?)

I cant spot the official maps application for sailfish os through pkcon: I get the following for pkcon get-packages | grep maps: https://paste.gnome.org/pub9qxyv6

While another person has http://pastebin.com/3HA56MhD for OS version 2.0.3.11

What is the recommended app for navigation and how do I get it ?

For Intex Aqua Fish -device HERE Maps (now renamed HERE WeGo) is the official maps application. If you removed it you should now be able to redownload it from Jolla Store.

If the app is slow to get position, then you can go to settings -> location and check that you have "location", "faster position fix", and "Offline position lock from mobile tower information" enabled.

@veskuh Is it intended to be only visible for the Jolla C & Intex Aquafish (and not for the Jolla Phone and Jolla Tablet) in the Jolla store?

@Alex Yes, that is intentional.

Is there a way to make it visible on the Jolla as well?

HERE (WeGo) maps requires Android 4.4.4 since quite long time ago. So that's probably reason why the app is not visible for old Jolla.

@czdosi you can install it without problems using APKPure for example even on Jolla 1

If you start gps before starting here, you will be able to get a gps fix... And be aware that jolla map application has no turn by turn navigation..... Maybe you find you answer in this question and you can upvote it...

@rgrnetalk thank you for the response! I cant install Here maps. Its not present in the store when I search. pkcon get-packages | grep heredidnt list any maps application. Rather what I have is https://paste.gnome.org/pjebyyg1c

Here maps is an Android application. You could try searching in the pre-installed android store for it, not with the package-manager. pkcon doesn't return android packages, or thats what I believe.

Sailfish OS' official Maps program uses online maps from Here, but the navigation part was done by Swedish (iirc) company for Jolla. Here maps is Android app by Here (formely part of Nokia, now sold to German car companies). If you want to install Jolla's own Maps, try this: https://together.jolla.com/question/136988/bug-there-is-no-maps-app-in-jolla-c-store/?answer=138143#post-id-138143

Edit: Ok reading the next answer from the link I posted this probably wont help you, but keep your eye on that thread if someone gets that sorted out.
