August is a lazy month so lets make a poll of some sort.

You get to have one native app that you will pay 10 euros (or the equivalent in your local currency) for. What is it.

Rules:

One answer per person and only one app.

Must be something not having to do with the core os.

Separate answers so others can upvote/downvote.

For those willing to chip in for app development, a place like Bountysource could be suitable to show that interest: How to post a Bounty

Interesting poll. Looking to the (far) future it may even be that native apps (on Android, iOS and Windows) will lose importance and be replaced by so called "progressive web apps": Native Apps are Doomed

Progressive web apps will strengthen Sailfish OS as more and more companies will start to provide browser-based applications instead of native. This may sound like utopia to you now, but the process has already started. So it seems that an awesome (native!) browser will be the most important app for the future of Sailfish OS. The linked article is a good starting point to create your first progressive web app (don't forget to test it on Sailfish OS!). Or try out some progressive web apps now: https://pwa.rocks/

I think this should be a Wiki post.

This is other thing than paying. Jolla should give an alternative method (i.e connmanctl) to be used e.g. with Situations app in addition to totally block connmanctl in e.g. Situations for wifi, bt and flight mode. Thus we as users could choose with our own risks. Let me say, this should be worth 10 euros or a pint of beer.

An app that automatically encrypts backups created by sailfish in the folder they are stored in.

Additionally a backup option to back-up your Jolla Applications (including the application screen positions).

This should be a high-priority item on the wishlist, more then anything else in this thread. But why an extra app? It should be a built-in feature.

This is what I am really missing and the buteo patches are outdated. I am planning to work on that probably next year.

After writing plugins for syncevolution and KDE3 7y ago, I was blessed syncing my TDE desktop with Nokia N9 over bluetooth since then. However N9 needs replacement and this functionality missing is major draw back for me.

@deloptes, what do you think about Planet Computers Gemini PDA or Cosmos Comunicator? Greetings megalith

If you add Nextcloud into the equation, you almost have it with the new Nextcloud account by Aurora OS.

Tanghus ( 2020-05-13 20:18:53 +0300 )edit

I updated the buteo-syncml plugins and I am syncing PIM to KDE3 now TDE with SyncEvolution and BT since last summer. I know SyncEvolution works with KDE and Gnome.

There are some minor issues on the Sailfish side, which I may try solving this summer if time allows.

If someone is interested to join forces let me know

The API is open to paid users (short story) so it should be possible!

And has anybody actually donated for some applications? I've send 5 e to MeeRun as I find it a very nice and useful app. Wonder what people usually support.

I always donate. I wish more devs opened a bitcoin wallet. Makes donation easier.

Definitely. I have sent one-off donations for individual, already written apps and patches that I found useful. I have also contributed to start development. I have sent one-off donations to some developers even though I am not using their work. And I have sent regular monthly donations to one or two.

of course, I did, I do and I will continue ... and I hope many others do so, too

I think my phone wouldn't be much useful without the guys who spend their precious time (and their knowledge) in writing the tools I need.

(hint to devs: I prefer flattr to make donations, paypal is my 2nd choice)

I have donated to all applications I use daily. If there's something I install and then forget & not use, those I do not donate to.

I give out real cash via PayPal, not flutter or anything like that.

I would gladly pay 10 Euros for an app that would let me encrypt phone calls.

if you do VOIP and use securefishnet you are making encrypted calls.

Better spotify client with more features than cutespot .

It also must use the new API (not yet released by spotify) Why new API? I want it to be future proof if I pay for it.

Just asking, if the "new API" is not yet released, how are you going to implement it...? :)

juiceme ( 2016-08-28 21:32:14 +0300 )edit

the only thing cutespot needs is Radio in my mind.

DarkTuring ( 2016-11-08 03:45:17 +0300 )edit

I am happy with a free version of spotify. It's just a radio then, but I can choose my genre. CuteSpot needs a premium account. No idea why that is a necessary limitation

Not an app, but I'd be happy to shell out 10E for a solution to the bug with Android network connectivity(https://together.jolla.com/question/47750/bug-android-apps-lose-internet-connectivity-after-a-while/).
