have a tutorial app that allows new users (or if someone wants to demo the "cool" factor of Jolla) as an installable app.

Should cover: - confirm and cancel actions (this is the one most people seem to struggle with) - Pulley menu

the cool show-off features: - remorse timer - multi-tasking view - keyboard input (including how to get rid of and cause keyboard to re-appear) - cover-view actions (where there are two things you can do to an active app in the multi-tasking view)

Good points. You should add them to the page gabriel posted.

the more people i meet, the more i see this as needed.

As Jolla is SO unlike all the other mobile OS's on the market currently people get confused and have a bad impression. Most folks after the double tap to unlock instruction, seem to want to try out the keyboard, and launch a couple of apps.

Can this be closed? In 1.0.4.20 the tutorial app reappeared... at least for me.

I would say no, as the "extra features" are not yet there (or talked about)

The current tutorial works (i have not had a chance to test it with many people yet, as it has only just re-appeared after 1.0.4.20), but only shows the basics (pulls, swipes and events).

THe other things like true multi-tasking (best shown via covers), interacting with the keyboard etc, are not yet in the tutorial. A full tutorial like this would also be a great tool for sales demos.

could be based on the notes app as that can do all the required actions (but in a special mode that has more instructions).

Apparently there used to be a tutorial? https://together.jolla.com/question/7446/preinstalled-ambiencestutorial-disappeared/

and after having used the Clock Alarm and phone functionality (which use "pulls" instead of buttons), it would be good to include an Alarm in a tutorial app (as the first time you meet them they take a moment or two to figure out, and at that point you don't have a moment or two)

oh, and some way to help people learn the names for things in Jolla.

See this Question https://together.jolla.com/question/5465/how-to-name-jolla-ui-screens-gestures-and-components/ for a good list

There is a tutorial application already, albeit sometimes it gets uninstalled. pkcon install jolla-startupwizard-tutorial.

challenge is if you do not want to use "develoepr mode" there is no way to get the tutorial back onto the device, so I think it should be in the store.

Also I read that question as refering to the "first use tutorial", not a seperate app, that you could run many times.

ymb: yup - I'm referring to that first use tutorial, which also comes as a separate application. I installed it basically to show to friends :-) You are right in that it should be in the store or at least it shouldn't get uninstalled. A bug I think.
