Whats the release date for native Sailfish open VPN support, given the platform prides itself of being secure?

I am using sailfish 2.0.3.14 and was able to install securefishnet with my open VPN profiles to create an encrypted tunnel.

Now my only problem that i have is that securefishnet does not appear to be able to connect using mobile data. It works fine with Wifi, any ideas?problem with mobile data description, working fine on WIFI

Your post is a duplicate of https://together.jolla.com/question/305/vpn-client/, where several people report having OpenVPN running successfully from both terminal and SecureFishNet.

Since nobody has a Turing phone, you should give us the errors you get otherwise it's difficult to help you.

@DarkTuring: I'm using SecureFishNet for OpenVPN on 2.0.2.51 and it works like a charm. Be aware that 2.0.3.14 is a buggy older version of Sailfish OS which was only released for those few Turing phones.

Either way, (Open-) VPN support out of the box would be great, so please vote here https://together.jolla.com/question/305/vpn-client/ + close maybe this question as duplicate.

I use it too. But it doesn't support IPv6 :C

it turns out i got wifi VPN and mobile data to work, for mobile data you can query DNS through the VPN connection, so with that setting off it works like a charm!

vpn in general is needed. not only openvpn. this is, since day one the only reason i can not use my jolla for work (pptp, the most common in business). has been on the toplist for wanted features for years. i am carrying a second phone mostly for that reason (bluetoorh low energy beeing the second of only two. bit thats a private thing).

i certainly hope all major vpn protocols are on their list to be integrated as they are as base for every linux distributions. a feature that should be one click away right from the start.

OMG i got securefishnet to work. the reason it didnt work before was simple, the VPN profiles werent stored in the nemo folder but the android storage or document folder and the sailfish app didnt like to link to that location- there must have been a permission problem to read the folder i used prior, now within Nemo i just created a VPN folder and copied all my opem VPN config files into, then pointed securefishnet at it and selected start on boot amd voila!!! i am elated.
