Since a few days I observe the following bug: When I make a swipe gesture on my phone, and my finger crosses the vertical middle of the screen, the gesture is interrupted immediately. To understand what I mean I made a video where the bug is visualized: https://youtu.be/i7llZRXS1Wc

This might be a hardware issue since the phone is two years old and the screen has a small color damage, but I think it is a software bug, because sometimes it disappears for a few hours, but it always comes back.

Has anyone got the same problem?

Edit: Thanks to @coderus and @Markkyboy for their hint with paint app and csd tool. I tried it with both, here are Screenshots from the results:

there is a stripe in the middle where touch doesn't seem to work: CSD tool 1 In Paint app the thickness of this "dead stripe" can be seen: Paint app When I swipe with one finger over the stripe, thw CSD tool interprets this as two finger swipe: CSD tool 2

If this is a hardware issue, is there anything I can do or do I have to think about a new Smartphone?

same issue but vertical strip bar, i believe its a combination of a digitizer hardware fault and sailfish not being able to correct it, because numerical pads work just fine but whole screen keyboards and swipe do not.

i guess you should still have Turing warranty, so use it!

Same issue with Jolla C. Could it be a software problem, something all of us have installed on the phone?

I think its not impacting everyone so its a bug somewhere. You could try re-install or revert your OS. I cant because i have 2.0.3.14 installed with no path to upgrade or downgrade and its to early for a return yet.

I'm having the same issue and it's incredibly annoying as lots of buttons are located right in the middle of the screen and there is no way to press them. Has anybody successfully fixed the screen by the warranty?

I had this issue as well and your touchscreen sensor is on the way out. If you still have a warranty get it repaired. As far as I can understand it's not a software issue but a hardware problem.

Oh, that's bad. I don't have warranty any more since I boight my Jolla Phone in September 2014. So I will have to look for a new Smartphone. Unfortunately there is no official Phone with Sailfish OS available now :(.

Install Paint application and check if your touchscreen works correctly.

why install an app, when there is the equivalent in CSDTool /Individual tests/Multi-touch

The Jolla Phone I have had (since mid 2014) now is displaying the same issue: tapless zone I noticed because around the taps around that area of the screen were not be recognized and more obviously, drags across the screen through that area would become taps of the elements located around the middle of the screen. The affected area seems to be a solid 2cm bar extending horizontally across the phone (when in portrait) at what appears to be the center of the device.
