Tablet? Jolla 1? Jolla C? OK, no tablet as you removed the battery, but still... :)

Please explain step by step what you're doing and what's going wrong. Otherwise it's impossible to help.

Which patches did you use? Have you removed/deactivated everything before doing the upgrade? Taken from official release note:

This is the usual drill before attempting to update your devices: If you use Phonehook from OpenRepos, uninstall it before upgrading. If you use oFono from OpenRepos, revert to the official oFono before upgrading (or else you may face problems with LTE etc.). If you use Patchmanager, revert all applied patches before upgrading.

So:

  1. Backup your phone
  2. Deactivate all patches (I think newer patchmanager version should do it automatically)
  3. Download and install Upgrade

So does the phone completely crash when you go to Settings/Sailfish OS updates?

@crisbort, have you checked the btrfs space in your device?

If the file system is too full you need to delete something and balance the FS before being able to install.

One nice way to see what actually happens and where it crashes; Connect the device via USB in developer mode andd ssh to the device, and do "journalctl -af" as root.

The log will show you what the device is doing during the update and obviously any errors encountered.
