The Aqua fish comes preinstalled with google play, and I'd like to remove it, as I have no need for it. anyone have any idea on how to do this?

Clean content of /mnt/vendor_data and reinstall aliendalvik, it should help.

Other way is to flash Jolla C modified factory image: https://together.jolla.com/question/148893/how-to-make-aqua-fish-to-think-its-jolla-c-not-modem/

Thanks, reason I asked is because it seems many people are having issues with the recovery flash there.

would you mind going into a bit more detail as to what cleaning /mnt/vendor_data entails? do I just delete the contents of that folder? or is there some other process?

i dont remember any single problem with flashing modified factory image :) for vendor_data you just rm-rf /mnt/vendor_data/* may need remount to rw

"I don't remember any single problem with flashing modified factory image"

From comments on the tutorial:

"Oops, I think I got a huge problem. I tried the second part and my Aqua Fish doesn't start anymore, it only shows the Sailfish Logo. No Jolla or INTEX anymore. If I try to perform a Reset device to factory state from the recovery menu I got: "

"It's stuck in a boot loop. Looking for a way to recover now,"

which is why I was looking for an alternative

Thanks for your help!
