UPDATE!

As of today, Tuesday 08.07.2014 @ 15:30 UTC, we have elected 2 Community moderators as documented in our IRC community meeting, see this post for details on how to attend to the meeting and here are the actual minutes where the topic was discussed, thank you.
Let's warmly welcome and thank @chemist and @tbr.
The extra editing abilities offered by the moderator role will hopefully help them in their tasks.

Note that we might consider opening the role even further in the future and get more contributors aboard if the need is there.

Thank you all for your dedication and passion to make TJC an always better place to be!

Sail on!
Eric

Dear Community Members,

First of all, thank you all for the awesome level of contribution and engagement here in together!
We would like to engage you even further into our vision of Doing It Together.
It's time for us to offer ways and means to contribute based on your interests and expertise.

Granting you moderator rights means you will have an extensive toolbox to monitor the posts and act on them.
In other words, have more control to organise, modify, erase and keep the data always relevant.
You will receive a specific badge (a little star!) visible on your profile so other users can understand your role.
Beyond all the extra actions the role allows you, I think it is important to underline that our intention is to build and shape t.j.c to fulfill a broad array of user expectations.

Guidelines, tutorials, collaborative kick-offs...

See this post as a good example: https://together.jolla.com/question/4389/together-howto-question-answer-and-comment/

Your karma points should already give an idea on how you have been contributing and your activity and posts demonstrate your attitude.

I already have in mind a set of possible candidates but to be fair, I think than rather nomination, a collegial decision is more appropriate.
If you feel like you would blossom in such a role, please post and answer below including a short explanation on who you are, which area(s) you're interested in, and how you can contribute to it.
We will then have a chance to vote on each proposal and select 3 candidates (the amount will increase as we grow).

Hope to hear soon from you!

Kind regards, Eric

Hi all,

I am Jukka Aaltonen or jjaone in Twitter, Jolla supporter and SailfishOS advocate ever since the days Jolla appeared in Twitter and started building the #unlike community for open mobile device and platform.

I've been involved on IT for 20+ years as SW-developer, system designer, architect and ITSM process and quality manager and have been spreading the message of opensource and Linux-based solutions in personal, business, academic and community IT environments.

In regards to mobile technoloy and communties I've been passionately supporting and promoting the alternative solutions to purely commercial and market-domination-driven closed ecosystems. All the mobile phones I've owned have been Nokia Symbian-based smart-phones and of course the Meego-based N9 and now I have the Qt/Nemo/Mer/SaiilfishOS based Jolla, which I hope will, in the future, provide an alternative and open design, platform, applications and user experience that we could enjoy and run in as-many-as-possible hardware, formfactors and devices.

In Together-forum, I've been posting questions, providing answers, commented and been involved in many discussions abt how-to best make SailfishOS feature-complete and the UX even more easy to use for all: geeks, devs and non-tech oriented users. I tend to express my views quite straightforwadly while respecting diverging notions, and I always tend to get easily enthusistic about new ideas and conceptions that could advance open techcs and #unlike communites.

I'd be glad to keep on contributing to Together-forum and being an active member of Jolla-community in the roles suggested in this question ;)

Cheers, -jukka

You are also my Favorite, Jukka. You are very kind and helpful in your comments/answers, also with newcomers and non-techies here on Together.

Thanks @phoenix_blue for your encouraging words.. I also think that the bigger the community is getting and the more varied the backgrounds of ppl are, the more important it is to remember that we are here Together helping Jolla to provide us with the perfrect SailfishOS platform and smart-phone and satisfying user experience, for all of us. #unlike ;)

This guy - "jjaone" - is very helpful, please make him one of the admin team. You only have to look at his experience in the IT industry to see he knows his 'onions' :)

The First One!

Most people know me as admin of http://talk.maemo.org - Maemo Community Council - HiFo BoD.

For about 6 years now I dedicate some of my spare time to Mobilephone Communities.

I contribute in other manners as some people like but I try to be objective in general and not biased when it comes to close combat (not taking sides).

I used to alpha/beta/RC-test for Sony, Sony-Ericsson and Nokia phones, sometimes even directly with company devels.

Hi there,

So I am probably the most unknown person here with regard to the community. I have no experience with regards to managing a forum.

But I love Jolla, I loved the N9 and N900. And mostly because of the community. And as I am not able to contribute in Code, I would love to contribute by participating as a moderator for this forum.

My name is Teun Winters. I live in Holland. My proffesion is insurance of large engineering projects. I love everything technical from buildings, machines to electronics. In the summertime I ride a motorbike which has my age, 1974 is a good year.

I would have the evenings during the week available for this. I am good in analysing problems, totaly impartial and very good in figuring out how stuf works.. finding side steps and triks to get things done.

thanks

I think it's sometime good to have someone on board who isn't a coder. And I agree 1974 is a good year ;)

I think that Michal Jerz would be a good kandidate. For years he is running a succesfull website called my-meego.com and my-symbian.com and has released several apps for MeeGo and Symbian. At this moment he has several apps ready to be ported to Sailfish. It's someone who has many years of experience with running and moderating a website. I think he is willing to do it with pleasure.

I second that. He offered his help many times and is known to be a very impartial. A lot of questions here (e.g. seperate Android apps in Jolla store) have been addressed by him almost a year ago before together.jolla.com has been started. I always found his reviews very detailed and honest and fair

He has an account here on together. Good things have been wrote by him almost one year ago. Just like I wrote: he is running my-symbian.com for many years. Later he added my-maemo.com and my-meego.com. When you read his messages than it's clear that he can help Jolla. His reviews of Nokia N950/N9 were one of the best. His big love is MeeGo and now Jolla. Absolutely someone who knows what needs to be done.

Unlike New Year for everyone!

About myself, I'm an ex teacher, currently studying my lifetime hobby (IT). My personal interest is in logistics and databases, but I'm also interested in thermal and acoustic design of computers. Here at together I'm reading mostly AV and power consumption related questions, and this propably wouldn't change in me beeing a moderator.

As a moderator I'd contribute mostly to the help, the FAQ and the tagging system aiming for a better overall usage of together. Here are a few examples of my ideas so far. Also, I'd like to encourage people to vote more overall, maybe searching some more too, but the most importantly: to be happy about every post sent here - both the good ones and the bad ones. My point of views are usually objective, I do my best considering the future of this portal as a working platform for wide level of users. IMHO Together should serve well both the first timers (never seen Jolla, never heard of Linux) and the most experienced developers, so it's not an easy job. Trying to offer what I have on this :)

Overall, I feel that a moderator status shouldn't affect to the personal contributing on questions, answers and comments - we are here together, and each one of us is already an unlike moderator. However, the toolbox sounds interesting and it would be great to work with it for everyone's benefit. We have an unlike, common goal you know!

YIS / Yours In Sails: Simo

Hi there Sailors,

another no clue about development and coding here, though I am a tech freak, have used almost all mobile OS in my life, have an eye to detail and I try to be a perfectionist. Have not been as much active as I wanted but sure spent much of my free time here just reading people's problems, solutions and suggestions. I follow the movement since the very beginning and I am at your disposal to get things done.

We do have a great forum here and sure needs a lot of attention. Let's DIT

Ahoy, me hearties.

I've been in software development for 20 years, most recently real-time trading systems, and have been fortunate enough to work in environments that truly embrace the ideals of open source, so naturally a Nokia and now Jolla phone has always been my daily driver! :)

I'd like to help out on the moderation side to ensure that the quality of questions, comments and answers is as high as possible, so that this resource can be of maximum benefit to users of Jolla products, and also that members of this community can feel safe posting here without any concerns over abusive behaviour from any other member.

Regards Milhouse

Hi!

I'm Timo and also known as @TimTTK here on Together. I really like this open community and have enjoyed been here since I joined Together on late december last year. I would like to help to make this community even better and it's also one important reason why I signed here.

I don't know so much about coding, developer stuff or computers, considering myself rather an average user when it comes to tech. However being a happy user of Jolla, I want to share my thoughts and ideas about how the using of Jolla would be even better and easier.

I might not be take part here actively all the time, but in the meantime, I will help anyway I can.

We can do this Together!

Thanks. @TimTTK

Hi all,

I've only been a registered user here for 10 days but I love my Jolla and I want to see both the device and the OS flourish. I would be happy to help any way I can.

I am a very net-active person with a long background in IT (developer from 1997 to 2004 and a software tester ever since). I am a conference speaker, a co-author of the book titled "How to Reduce the Cost of Software Testing" (published by CRC Press in September 2011), and a brown belt student of the Miagi-Do School of Software Testing. Though far from being a guru, I would like to say I have some knowledge on the subject.

Due to my profession I'm guessing I would be mostly helping discover and smooth out any unexpected or unwanted behavior or design, as well as helping other users struggling with issues to find workarounds or alternative solutions while waiting for a more permanent fix.

Additionally, I could most likely help confirm/refute issues reported by other users and then either promote or close threads, respectively, to help ensure real issues get the attention they deserve while keeping the site from cluttering up with invalid bug reports.

I have operated and/or administered a multitude of forums and wikis ranging from a WoW guild's forums running on my own Linux box, through setting up and maintaining our company wiki, to moderating the discussion forums of the now-late WidSets at Nokia.

I rest my case - the decision is up to you.

Ahoy Sailors!!!!

I know I only have one question here on this site but I know I am capable to be a moderator. To be honest I don't have a Jolla yet but I do watch a lot of videos and now I could say that I already know everything about the Sailfish OS. I am also a moderator on Nokia Discussions so I already have an experience!!!

I believe that We can Do It Together especially with the support from the community. Sailors this is the start of a revolution. This is Jolla Revolution Cheers
