Unlocking when plugged

Whenever I plug in the power cable or headphones on a locked phone, it wakes up and I can swipe to the password screen and can start entering the password but it does not wait for me to enter it completely and the screen turns off again. Instead when I enter the password even after a trigger like plugging in a cable it should wait for me to finish it completely.
