I have just updated to 2.1.1 from 2.1.0 on my Jolla 1. When it finished the update sequence it rebooted and displayed the Jolla logo. After about 10s the screen turned off.

I waited a few minutes and found it completely unresponsive so I removed the battery and put it back in. Same scenario as above occurred again. I could get into recovery mode and I tried the btrfs recovery option with no success. Does anyone have any suggestions to solve this?

Edit: Probably worthwhile to note that I have forgotten the devicelock code a year ago.

Of course you have recent backups(!) when you go to recovery mode make sure you copy all ~/.* directories, e.g. .config. .local .cache as they have all your installed app configurations.

I believe I have the same problem. Fortunately I had no devicelock code. In my case the problem appears to be the systemd upgrade. See this question

I also had this problem and had to reset to factory settings in recovery mode. Additionally I lost the backup which I did create prior to update to sd card. After recovery and number of updates towards 2.1.1, when starting restore, I found out that sd card did not contain the newly created backup, It did have the one from previous upgrade only.

The sticking point with that is that I forgot the lock combination months and months ago.

Just to make sure: you do not have any active TOHs installed, like TOHOLED, keyboard, IR-camera...

They will make the boot up sequence veery long and in the end (if you wait long enough), the device won't work. If this is your case, just remove the TOH and reboot.

I have booted it with just plain TOHs and TOH-less. Without success.
