When entering telnet 10.42.66.66 trying to recover my Aquafish phone that doesn't boot up past the Intext Sailfish OS screen I am getting the following. (I followed instructions and installed driver based on zendesk instructions for Mac and rebooted OSX Sierra)

Trying 10.42.66.66... Connected to 10.42.66.66. Escape character is '^]'. Connection closed by foreign host.

[Process completed]

The recovery menu cannot be accessed basically.

What happened is i used the SFOS terminal in develper mode and installed 2.1.1.26 but during package refresh somethign didn't complete. The phone basically worked after reboot, but was a bit slow and buggy. So i simply went ot the terminal with phone fully charged and plugged in and connected to WIFI, all patches removed and backed up and tried to install 2.1.0.11 (last Intext SFOS version thats stable):

devel-su ssu s ssu re 2.1.0.11 version --dup

Next i wanted to do pkcon refresh and reboot however, when i went back to the phone about 2 hours later, the screen was simply black while still on i couldn't wake the phone, bring up the lock screen, homescreen or anything. Black screen of death basically.

Any suggestions?

By the way this may be my third Sailfish Phone i bricked, 1st. Turing Dark Wyvern Phone, next Aquafish (trashed), next this one, still partially alive.

My suggestion:

After every update like this: ssu re 2.1.1.26 ssu ur version--dup

do: zypper ref; zypper up sync reboot

so you will see if some packages couldn't be installed during update (because of conflict)

reboot only, if you see that anything went fine and you have no conflicts

Figured it out, i pushed the volume down button, not up button! Reset and Recovery resolved now.
I also wanted to share my experience after i succesfully reset the device through the external terminal.
1. Could not restore from SD Card backup, says permission denied in log file.
2. Recovery SFOS version is Aurajoki 2.0.2.45 and is outdated, that is why restoring from backup wont work (SDCard backup file), i used 2.1.0.11 for the backups.
3. After updating to 2.1.0.11 restore from backup works, it does require you to sign into Jolla account again.
4. Restore from Storeman was my next step but those backups have disappeared because they were safed in Documents folder which gets wiped when phone is resett, bummer, lesson learned safe manually to SD Card once in a while.
5. Lots of apps required QT5, pyqt etc (Used in 2.1.1.26) and couldnt install them from Open Repos, so had to first intall the right repositories to make them work.
6. I wish Syncthings had a backup restore function, i had to manually add folders and remote devices, does anyone know of a way to backup that information?
