Whats the use of passing from Event screen (for example when you click on an email) to home screen, then to the app screen?'
IMO it would be alot smoother to open the app right away (even with some delay) instead of doing the extra home-screen tour.

As far as I recall, the "show homescreen before opening app" was introduced along the way to make it clear that open applications have their visual representations on the homescreen. It's always like this. Open an app from the app grid, from the Jolla Store, click on a link inside an email to open your browser... Sailfish always shows the homescreen (and the position of the new app on the homescreen) first.
In my opinion it's a very intuitive and clever concept. Also, it wisely uses the time it takes to launch the app in question. The alternative would probably be a splash screen.
I wasnt aware of the transition showing the exact location of the cover; thanks! Personally I've never had issues finding apps on my homescreen; the covers are colorful and unique on their own, so finding my app is usually fast (once im on the homescreen, that is).
One thing is app startup time, another is experience. Its difficult to understand (from a user's perspective) the transitions; they can ben confusing and disorienting, especially if there's alot of stuff moving on the screen (which there is in this case). take as an example my post here. I wasn't aware of the "showing the cover location on the home screen" in the first place. But even now that I am, I can't think of any additional value it brings. Sure, there's a cover on the homescreen; but that I already knew. Can i stop the transition mid-flight? That would be awkwardly painful, so I doubt it to be a good idea. Also, if my app is already open, it will repeat the same transition. Why? You would assume this passage to be redundant the second time around, as the app already has its place on the homescreen, which has been shown to the user the first time the app got launched.
Apart of that, perhaps a small animation applied to the cover of the app that is being launched might help in focussing in on the homescreen (its difficult to discern which app is launched with different ambiences for instance)
