Can I install with this instruction https://together.jolla.com/question/30926/howto-install-google-play-on-original-jolla-phone-sbj/ ? Which Gapps version should I download?

EDIT: Android version is 4.4.4 Kitkat so I'll try gapps-kk-20140105-signed

If Android version is 4.4.4 Kitkat (as written above) then you should probably try this How To: https://together.jolla.com/question/114608/howto-install-gapps-gplay-google-play-kk-on-tablet-or-c/ (for tablet & Jolla C). Will try myself in few hours... :)

I'm now at the situation that when I start play-store and try to login it's says that unable to connect google servers. Tried both ways.

I think factory reset is next step and trying that your link again :)

EDIT: Argh my mistake I forget to move that Gms... file to right place. After moving that I was able to login play store.

How do you do it (move that Gms... file to right place)?

I will not get google play to work.

Anybody else having problems with the play store icon disappearing? No problem with any other android icons.

I verify that this method works with play store: https://together.jolla.com/question/114608/howto-install-gapps-gplay-google-play-kk-on-tablet-or-c/

I'm able to download apps straight from play store (This is awesome, because it didn't work on Aquafish)

And GApps which I used was gapps-kk-20140105-signed (different than that instruction)

@MJolla are you still able to install apps through Play Store after the latest version got installed?

ejjoman ( 2017-10-12 12:20:38 +0300 )

@ejjoman. It's working ok with that 20140105

MJolla ( 2017-10-12 17:28:15 +0300 )

@MJolla yeah, used this version, too. But the Play Store updated itself immediately and stopped working after that ("Download pending...")

ejjoman ( 2017-10-12 17:36:05 +0300 )

@ejjoman hmm. My Play Store doesn't want to update itself :) I used this http://www.devfiles.co/download/7m2VdVjQ/gapps-kk-20140105-signed.zip I just found it with google so I don't know maybe it's hacked or someting :D Original page: https://www.orduh.com/cyanogenmod-11-android-4-4-google-apps/

At first I put those file to wrong directory and install phonesky, but then I wasn't able to connect google servers.

He just wonder, why people have sailfish AND then want the google play store...me too, plenty ways to install apks without google services all times running in the background.

poddl ( 2017-10-14 02:33:57 +0300 )

more and more apps need gservices unfortunately ( most of my bank apps for example )

clovis86 ( 2017-10-14 09:36:20 +0300 )

therefore I would recommend the open source project Gsuite...
