Is the app development for SailfishX possible? [answered]

I would like to check if my apps are working on the SailfishX. There seems to be no SDK update available for Kiiminkijoki. Can you use the apps developed for Jolla C and Jolla 1 or do you need to recompile them? Are the old apps available in the Jolla store?

@ljo thanks for your comment, you might convert it as an answer. Currently I do not have Xperia and SailfishX so I needed this question.

@Rikujolla OK. I converted it to an answer. I still think the title could be changed. But I have no concrete suggestions.

I can't see how too much would have changed, otherwise, can you imagine how many apps would all need to be updated/changed to work under sfosX while keeping the apps as legacy for previous device users.

Some apps will work, some won't, just like between updates for Jolla1 - as background stuff changes, versions of Qt modules change and so apps need updating sometimes.

Perhaps to compile a list of the apps you want to check and see if a willing Sony X user will test for you.

It is like 5 questions in your text. All can be answered with:

  • yes, go ahead and check your apps.
  • yes, no sdk update available yet.
  • yes, you can use the 32 bit armv7hl apps without recompilation on your XperiaX as well as noarch packaged apps.
  • yes, 'old' apps are available in store/warehouse. Though warehouse itself had to be installed by rpm command (devel-su) until release, but I suspect it works directly from download/file browser now.
