Microsoft exchange sync won’t setup, because of lock screen requirements

Question about MS exchange sync. I’m trying to setup with my Xperia a connection to my work exchange, but it says I need to enable my lock screen. Only that isn’t enough even if I according to some posts lower the retries to 6 it won’t accept it.

Is there a way to see what the ‘real’ requirements are so I can determine if it’s at all possible to make this work?

UPDATE: thanks for all the feedback/help, only I'm still not able to make it work. So I'll put some time in investigating how i can do troubelshooting. Any pointers on where to look on the OS - logfiles level would be great.

The requirement of having the screen lock enabled falls in the category of provisioning. These requirements do not originate from Sailfish - they are dictated by your Exchange service provider (usually your employer). They want to make sure that no confidential information would leak in email messages due to employees not using the screen lock (which might make it possible for a 3rd party to view emails on phones).

Thanks, but that’s not a problem and I understand their reasoning (I would do the same). Only it looks like to me with the settings available there is no working match (which I find strange) or their is some miscommunication between the phone security settings and the exchange server. But to find / verify that I need to know exactly what has been asked. But how can I find that out on the phone...

I've disabled 'Provisioning' option in account settings - after activating lock screen, etc - and it worked...

Thanks, but I’ve tried that and it creates the account (after a long time waiting), only it has no mail, calendars or contacts. So not working for me :(

Here's what I did: When it complains about the lockscreen siwpe back to the settingspage. Swipe forward again to install wich resulted in an endless circle on my device. While it cycles, swipe from the side to peek in the mailapp if the account was added. At some point it showed up for me. If it fetches mails just brutally shut down the phone. After a reboot my account was there and remained, if I closed the Settingsapp during the process it got removed....Good luck!

Is this Xperia-specific? I have Jolla 1, and my settings are: key lock 5 digits, automatic lock in 5 minutes, and unlimited number of trials.

[Edit] I believe that the server defines what settings you should use. [Edit] And I have provisions on.

I don’t know and don’t think so, but this is my first experience with SailfishX.

I also think that it’s server defined, but is there a way on the Xperia to see this, so I don’t have to second guess?

I believe I got our companys requirements when I set up my Windows-tablet - quite long time ago. Or exchange advised me. Not much help to you though :-(

Here is the configuration requested by the server of my company : "password-and-15-Minute-Timeout"

Unfortunately, using password and 5mn or 10mns timeout didn't work.

So, 2 options :

deactivating provisioning. or I didn't set any password and set up my account. It works fine. Then, once it has been set up, I've added a password and a timeout.

I too am running into the provisioning problem when trying to add my work Exchange account. I've tried multiple different combinations for the Device Lock to no avail.

I was able to sync using the Android app Bluemail, but because of the lack of Google Play(-You-For-A-Fool) Services, pushes (which unfortunately also includes sending emails) don't work.

Anyone have an idea why Bluemail would pass the provisioning check while Jolla's Exchange implementation does not?
