[SailfishX] SSH session very laggy (WLAN)

SSH session is very laggy with Xperia. It takes sometimes several seconds to respond to keypresses. Happens with Putty in Ubuntu and with Mac from terminal. Jolla1 is much more responsive. Have anybody else this issue? Kymijoki with both devices, Xperia and Jolla.

Edit. I've got Airport Extreme Model A1301 and I don't have issues with Macbook when using 5GHz and I don't remember having problems when I used HTC One m7.

Have only used Mac OSX High Sierra accessing SSH via Cyberduck and can't say that I have noticed any such issues, but then I am of advancing years!

I noticed it too. There is lot of lag and it's a bit annoying. When using jollacommunicator, it always fails to connect, or connects for just a few seconds. I thing this could be caused by this wlan anomaly.

Noticed since the first time using the xperia x (a lag of approx 1sec, very annoying). Never had this issue with my Jolla1 (also not with 2.1.3.7). This happen with the xperia no matter if screen is on/off or connected via 2,4 or 5ghz. Today I copied 5Gib files to the phone via sftp, while copying the shell is quick as one want it to be. (As client I am using Debian stretch with linux 4.9)

I have the same problem with Sailfish X. I think this started after upgrading to 2.1.3.7. Initially when Sailfish X came out ssh connection was working fine. Now the lag makes it unusable. Behavior is the same if I connect from Ubuntu 16.04 or OS X 10.11. Connecting SFX over 2.4G band is clearly better than over 5G band, but even over 2.4G the lag is really bad. I'd say that over 2.4G it is bad and over 5G it is horrible. And the lag is there even if the display is on all the time. Also file transfer with rsync does not work at all anymore, perhaps that's due to the lag (or maybe it's another problem).

Xperia was lagging when connected to 5GHz WiFi. I changed to 2.4GHz and that improved situation a lot. There's always a bit of lag but not several seconds like in 5GHz. I think it's normal now. Didn't notice much difference when display was on or off.

Edit. Well, this is not the real solution, but this is not the problem either its just a symptom. There is something wrong in networking or drivers. We might need more user reports.

I confirm. Additionally, Filezilla (Linux in my case) could only connect in 2.4GHz, never in 5GHz (on the phone side).

Lag is less bad over 2.4G than over 5G, but even over 2.4G it is really bad.

I suggest you should keep your display on to prevent the device from going into sleep- and power saving modus.

There is no easy way to keep it from doing this - at least I do not know any - which of course, is good for your battery's health. But there are some situations where I would like avoid sleep modus, e.g. in this case.

Switching from 5GHz to 2.4GHz Wifi helped so much that I don't think I dig any deeper for now. I tested with display on and off and didn't notice much difference. My SSH session are so short that I don't think phone goes any deep sleep states.

Interesting findings! So the source of the malfunction seems to be located in the network module of SFX.

WLAN is 2.4GHz and SSH is very laggy here. 1 to 3s delay when typing. Display on/off: no change noticed. Using Linux laptop connected with LAN cable to the router.

The lag seems to be comming and going. Not really figured out if the external circumstances, like display on and/or charging helps and/or wlan signal quality matters.
