Targeted email ad according to google search
Nothing major, just wanted to get your opinion on this matter:
My car broke down on a trip and I had to find a car repair shop. I used google with my Jolla C default browser to search for repair shop and car rental. About two minutes after the googling I got email (to my installed non-google email account) from Ryanair: "Hire a car with us". Hmmm.
I just wonder if this was coincidence or not. Maybe. But if not, how could Ryanair target that promotion to my email according to my Google search?
- I only use sailfish apps, no alien dalvik or any google related accounts installed.
- I DO have active google account too but I have never signed in with my Jolla.
- I DO have registered Ryanair account with my non-google email. I sometimes receive ordinary promotions from them.
- I have never signed in Ryanairs account either with this phone.
I just wonder where is the connection between Googling with not-signed-in search engine in non-google phone and receiving advertisement to my non-google email account according to that google search? Or is it just my tin foil hat getting too tight? :)
edit: specified that i searched car repair and rental
I think it might be a coincident.

coderus ( 2017-11-20 13:03:44 +0200 )edit@coderus I agree, with You DO search in google, just think its only half of the expplanation. The second complementary half might be:
- You DO send emails to the google mailboxes of other people from your non-google email account, perhaps even from the phone.

ghling ( 2017-11-20 16:35:42 +0200 )editI get these all the time and I never searched or even remotely cared about car rental.
