Screen touch has stopped working completely - Jolla 1

The touch functionality on my jolla 1 stopped working completely the other night.

Phone was ~70% charged when I went to bed, when the alarm went off in the morning I was unable to swipe it off. Phone was not plugged in overnight. Turned phone off using power button, restarted 10mins later still not working. Took battery out and left it for a few hours, restarted but screen still not responding.

Phone and screen both appear to be working fine. Still receiving notifications and calls etc just unable to answer them.

Since then, I've managed to log into the phone via the recovery mode and set logging to be persistent, but nothing obvious showing up in that. I've opened it up and checked all the board connections were still intact but they seemed ok. I've taken a backup and done a factory reset, however now the phone is stuck on the select language screen.

Has anyone come across this before?

Another thing I've noticed is the battery and the main board get quite hot both when running and when plugged in and the battery drains very quickly (loses ~50% power in about an hour). Is this a sign of a dead battery?

Cheers, Owen

Hi,

sad to hear it. Touch screen of my Jolla died too last year - https://together.jolla.com/question/157049/dead-digitizer-only-when-os-fully-turned-on/ Try evdev_trace test as spiiroin recommended to me.

Hi Owen, I am having the same problem ... have you had any luck with it?

No sorry mate. I pulled it down but couldn't see anything obviously loose/damaged. Put it back together nothing changed. My wife got sick of not being able to contact me so bought be another phone (non-Jolla) and I've been too busy with other things to get back to taking a look at it.

I am the latest victim of this issue, my 3 years old Jolla 1 digitizer is almost non-responsive and I have no way of getting it fixed, or get a replacement part anywhere that can be shipped internationally. I refuse to give up on my Jolla

@DameCENO I have reluctantly given up and gone back to Android. A non-responsive phone isn't much use. Might wait for the Librem phone to come out and see what that is like, but I think the Sailfish ship has now sailed ...
