Dear Jolla,

Will there please be support for the Sony Xperia XZ2, XZ2 Pro and XZ2 Compact in the Sailfish OS 3. This needs support for the Snapdragon 845 CPU which is in many nice higher powered phones.

With supporting these 2 CPU's (Snapdragon 835 and 845) there is a whole list of Sony phones that will be able to run Sailfish!

Who is with me?

Let Jolla finish support for the XA2, then if they can they will add more models. I agree that the XA2 offers nothing more than the X except a slightly bigger screen and prettier appearance, but if resources are limited it is right to start from an affordable yet rather powerful phone. The XZ series is really too expensive for many people.

My J1 still works flawlessly after four years, kudos for that, but since it was a mid range device at best from the get-go, I actually don't want another mid range device again (especially not something with A53 cores). If Jolla would announce support for the XZ2 Compact, I would sign up right away.

So yeah, it will sound arrogant, but for some people the XA2 isn't expensive enough, so to say.

I'd also like Sailfish on the highest-possibly-end Sony, but will settle for the XA2.

My good old J1 still works fine, but faster CPU and more RAM would improve daily experience.

And how about future of phone prices? Well smartphone prices drops very quickly so what matter is brand new price because you see price drops so often. We never get good hardware if we always thinking the price, so I would say come on and save money or wait for the price drop (and use old phone).

Deciding to switch from my (WM10) Lumia 950 to something new, and really like the idea of Sailfish at this point. It would be really nice to know if XZ2 phones will get the support. There is no rush and I am really wondering about the devices that will come with Sailfish 3 version, but I guess it will be hard to beat the XZ2 specs. Also it is not clear to me if Sailfish X will be maintained as good as Sailfish 3.

Unofficial port for Sony Xperia Tama devices is released. Currently for XZ2 only, but we will work on adding support for all devices in the family: XZ2c and XZ3 included, single/dual sim variants. Note that this does not include XZ2 Pro. As far as I know, it is not included into Open Devices program.

Damn too bad no such thing happend for XZ1 family (nor for the X Compact, stephg port is good but it's based on old AOSP base and lacks OTA updates). But still great news, community does much better job than Jolla in porting business.

When selecting a device ~2 month ago, I had to choose the one that's easily available. Hence XZ2/XZ2c/XZ3

ZX3 support would be great!

Hello @rinigus - I'm not sure what you are talking about or want me to do wjen I look at the GitHub link. I'm just a user and no developer, sorry. Maybe I could help with a concrete guide what to do to provide you the needed information.
