On the homescreen, I press long on a cover of an app to get the "x" icon on covers for deletion. What's happening a dozen of times to me is, that the icons got rearranged immediately after closing one (depending on the location of closed cover). In my opinion it would be more natural if covers stay on the same position until I leave the "closing app" mode.

switch off Quick events access in Settings, load @cornerman 's no home carousel, and close your apps by swiping them to the left. Feels totally natural and is quicker than tapping for a 'close app mode'. Plus you can easily switch from home screen to the other screen whatever it's called again.
thx for the hint. but my intention is to hopefully improve the ui usability (of course when jolla things the same). I don't want to modify things with patches or something. and the patch was last updated 2016. so it's only a matter of time when it stops working. but thx again

A bit bigger "X" in Sailfish X would be nice too. I miss it quite a lot, too big or too clumsy fingers.
kaappikello ( 2018-04-04 20:58:09 +0300 )edit@kaappikello - go to /usr/share/lipstick-jolla-home-qt5/switcher/SwitcherItem.qml, and down about line 310 or so, you'll see a few code entries called 'image' and 'rectangle' that have values of iconSizeSmall and iconSizeMedium. Change those to iconSizeLarge.

I think it has something to do with a function called 'update grid' or something like that. (I'm using Android at the moment so can't pull it up now). I messed around with it a little, and I was able to get the covers to stay large, instead of shrinking down when you have more than 4 open, but I couldn't figure out how to get them to stay in place. I'll probably be back on SF within the next few days, so I'll check it out again.
